The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has provided a total of 2,22,583 Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) till date under the national flagship Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Nagaland Governor La Ganesan stated on March 21.
This amount to 60.19% of the 3,69,794 rural households identified under the scheme, he added, during the customary address on the second day of the first session of 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Tuesday.
The remaining, numbering 1,47,211 households, are planned for coverage with drinking water supply under the scheme during 2023-24, he added.
The PHED has also initiated the Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus activities with the aim to reinforce the capacity of individuals and communities to create a people's movement to ensure that the sustenance ODF status in rural areas, continued practice of safe hygienic behaviour, he said.
It is also undertaken to ensure that all villages have solid and liquid waste management facilities, he added.
