Kohima, February 10 (MExN): The Kohima Zone Food Safety Administration has issued a mandatory directive for all Food Business Operators (FBOs) in the region to obtain a license or registration certificate under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 & Regulations, 2011 within 30 days.
The order, issued by Kezhangulie Yimchunger, Designated Officer, Food Safety Administration, Kohima Zone stated that compliance is required as per Section 31 of the Act and relevant regulations.
The directive applies to a wide range of entities, including resorts, homestays, hotels, restaurants, mess, institutional/office canteens, mid-day meal kitchen, anganwadi centres, manufacturing units, home-based FBOs, caterers, pharmacies which sells food supplements, distributors, wholesalers/retailer of food items, street food vendor etc.
FBOs who have not yet obtained the necessary documentation have been instructed to apply within 30 days of the publication of this notice. Applications can be submitted online via the official portal www.foscos.fssai.gov.in or in person at the office of the Chief Medical Officer, Food Safety Section, Paramedical Colony.
The notice cautioned that Failure to comply will be an offence and punishable under Section 58 and 63 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
