Nagaland: Law students urged to build legal acumen

Kohima, August 17 (MExN): The one-month Summer Internship Programme 2023 organised by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) culminated with at the DC conference hall, Kohima on August 17.

NSLSA Member Secretary, Victo Sema, NJS while speaking to the law students asked them to work hard to build a legal acumen so that they can successfully establish themselves in the field of law. 

Studying, he asserted, is an investment for the profession which is not only during the course of their studies but once they join the practice. Sema said the profession although is respectable, requires the person to work the extra mile. He advised them not to be discouraged but to be very coherent and consistent, ready to sacrifice and enjoy the learning at the same time. 

The scope of law is very wide and one can also be self-employed, which is very lucrative if one takes the practice with heart. Other aspect of job includes judicial exams in government and other branch where only persons with legal background are eligible to apply. 

During the programme, Kohima DLSA retainer lawyer Sunjib Rana also interacted with the law interns and State Panel Lawyer Cherry Ovung chaired the programme. 

The interns shared their experience and certificates were also presented. 

During the internship programme, interns were given opportunity to directly observe proceeding in courts, at the high court and subordinate courts in the districts and engaged in various activities organised by the District Legal Services Authorities. The interns also visited and interacted with persons at District Jails, Old Age Home, Children homes among others, stated a press release issued by PRA, NSLSA.
