Nagaland logs 8 new COVID cases against 25 recoveries

Dimapur, October 10 (MExN): Nagaland reported 8 new COVID-19 cases out of 554 samples that were tested on Sunday, taking the cumulative caseload to 31,449.

The number patients who recovered from the disease also increased to 29,505 as 25 people who previously tested positive for COVID-19 recovered in the last 24 hours. No new fatalities were reported on Sunday and the state’s COVID death toll stands at 656, according to the daily bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).

Out of the new cases, five were from Kohima, two from Dimapur and one from Mokokchung. 

As of 5:00 pm on October 10, the state has 259 active cases out of which 149 were in Dimapur district. Kohima district has 51 active cases, Mokokchung-29, Tuensang-9, Phek-8, Wokha-5, Mon-4, Kiphire-2, Longleng-1, and Phek 1. Zunheboto remains the only district with zero active cases on Sunday.

Among the active cases, 187 are asymptomatic, 52 are mild symptomatic, 7 are moderate on oxygen, 8 are sever on oxygen, 1 patient is in ICU without ventilator and 4 are in ICU on ventilator, as per the bulletin. 

India records 18,166 new cases, 214 deaths
According to an data from Union Health Ministry on Sunday, India registered 18,166 new cases pushing the country's infection caseload to 3,39,53,475, while the death toll reached 4,50,589 with 214 more fatalities.

The active cases declined to 2,30,971 in the last 24 hours, as 23,624 people recovered from the virus, taking the total recovery count to 3,32,71,915. The death rate stood at 1.33 per cent.

The country has so far vaccinated 94,70,10,175 people with 66,85,415 being given a jab in the past day. This has been achieved through 92,12,314 sessions.
