
Kohima, April 6 (MExN): The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Government of Nagaland is organising a State Mega Legal Services Camp on April 12 (Saturday) at NBCC Conventional hall, Kohima from 12 noon onwards.
The primary objective of the Camp is to spread awareness about welfare legislations and schemes strengthening the community’s access to the schemes; Identifying and connect people to welfare schemes to ensure that fruits of welfare schemes are passed to eligible people; to understand legal needs of people and address legal problems of people by giving appropriate legal advice and taking other necessary steps.
‘One of the primary functions of Legal Services Institutions as seen in the Section 4(e) of the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987 is to organise Camp with the purpose of educating the weaker section of the society and securing their rights and entitlements under various welfare schemes and programmes,’ informed a press release issued by Neiko Akami, NJS, Member Secretary, NSLSA.
Mega Legal Services camp module is intended to serve as a service delivery platform to cause a paradigm shift from legal awareness to legal empowerment for the marginalized and weaker section of the society.
It may be mentioned that the NSLSA in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authorities, district administration, government departments, stakeholders and NGOs organized the first ever Mega Legal Services Camp in Nagaland starting from Longleng District since May 2018 and culminated at Kohima in February, 2019.
Free facilities such as photocopying, affidavit, help desk for filling up the forms, legal awareness stall, distribution of legal literature, drinking water along with transportation facilities will be provided by the Legal Services Authority besides the other services provided by the various departments. In this regard, the beneficiaries are informed to bring personal documents to avail different facilities.
The NSLSA, in addition is expecting dignitaries from the Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, Supreme Court of India, Gauhati High Court, National Legal Services Authority; and various government department to be part of the programme, the release added.
