Nagaland: Naga wrestlers shine at Indigenous Open Wrestling Competition

Kohima, September 27 (MExN): Severeal Naga wrestlers participating in the 4-day State Level Indigenous Open Wrestling Competition, 2018 at Tahamzam, Mini Stadium, Senapati, Manipur have qualified to the quarter final round.  

The Championship will culminate on September 28.  

Seketuokho Nipu, Nlumrai Hegwang, Vechita Khesoh, Venuzo Dawhuo and Rukulhü Phesao of NWA along with L. Moses from Saranamai, L. Thekho from Saranamai and Th. Süpuni Shah from Lachamai from Manipur qualified to the quarter final round under 65 Kg above category. Meanwhile, Külüvezo Soho and Visedelhuo Chüsi of NWA along with SK. Lalousü from Ngari Raidolumai, SB. Reipou from Saranamai, Avepaodu from Tunjoy, Hrangaolu from Phuba Khuman, Shoylavei from Saranamai and Sapunu Thaovei from Maiba will be vying for the quarter final matches under 65 Kg below category.  

NWA informs

The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) will be conducting player selection for the Judo event to represent Nagaland State for the upcoming 1st North East Olympic Games 2018 to be hosted by the Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) and to be held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal from October 24-28.  

According to a press statement issued by NWA General Secretary Vekhozo, the interested Judo Wrestlers are directed to attend the selection trial scheduled on 2nd October 2018 at IG Stadium by 10.00.AM onwards. The selection will be conducted under the following categories and added that weight measurement will be done on the spot itself. The men’s weight category are 56 Kg, 60 Kg, 66 Kg, 75 Kg & 81 Kg. The women’s weight categories are 48 Kg, 52 Kg, 57 Kg, 63 Kg & 70 Kg.
