Dengue awareness prog in Dimapur

Dimapur, July 21 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has informed all concerned that the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP), Dimapur will be conducting an awareness programme for prevention of dengue epidemic outbreak under Dimapur municipality area on July 27, 11:00 am at Town Hall. A press release issued by Moa Sangtam, Administrator, DMC has informed all concerned colony GBs/chairmen and women hohos to attend the awareness programme.  

Food Safety: District Level Steering Committee formed

Kohima, July 21 (MExN): The Food Safety Commissioner cum Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, I. Himato Zhimomi has announced the formation of a District Level Steering Committee (DLSC) in all the districts of Nagaland. The Committee will be constituted with the following members: Deputy Commissioner as chairperson; Designated Officer (CMO)- Member Secretary; Commissioner or Superintendent of Police - Member Administrator (Municipal or Town Council) - Member; Food Safety Officer - Member; Horticulture, Agriculture, Veterinary, Fishery, Land Resources, Food & Civil Supplies, Municipal Affairs, Rural, Education, Social Welfare, Industries & Commerce Department or Chamber of Commerce as District members. The DLSC will incorporate any NGOs as and when required.  

NSCN (R) terminates seven

Dimapur, July 21 (MExN): The NSCN (Reformation) has issued termination order against seven of its members. According to a press release from MIP, NSCN (R), the seven are: Lieut. Col. Shitokhu (Naga Army No. 11072), Lieut. Col. Huvito (Naga Army No. 11564), Maj. Ato (Naga Army No. 1969), Captain Inito (Naga Army No. 15210), Captain Heroka (Aka Tovi), Lieutenant Angukavi (Naga Army No. 11642), Sergeant Vika (Naga Army No. 18936). “The above mentioned Naga Army officials failed to report to GHQ despite repeated calls given, hence are discharged from the active National Service through this order,” it stated. “Henceforth, any issues that may arise in connection with these mentioned individuals, the NSCN/GPRN (Reformation), will have or bear no responsibilities whatsoever.”  

MVWO condemns killing

Medziphema, July 21 (MExN): The Medziphema Village Women Organization (MVWO) has expressed shock at the murder of a 56-year-old from Gorkha community in Medziphema. In a statement issued by President and Secretary, MVWO “decried” the “beastly act” perpetrated by unknown person(s) and requested the authority to nab and punish the culprit(s) accordingly.  

River Belt Colony Council requests DC

Dimapur, July 21 (MExN): River Belt Colony Council has written to the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur requesting to extend instruction/notification so that pet dog owners may keep the pets within their compounds and “any dog found lingering or roaming in the colony could be killed.” The request has been made in pursuance of the colony resolution adopted earlier during executive meeting. The letter appended by River Belt Colony Council chairman, Mepu Imchen and secretary, Joseph Nenio Mao also stated that “circumstances may compel the colony council to take up its own course of action, which may not be appropriate.”  

RSU demands proper ILP regulation

Tseminyu, July 21 (MExN): Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) has lauded the stand of Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) with regard to Inner Line Permit (ILP) system to curb the influx of illegal immigrants. RSU in a statement issued by its vice president, Tenyebinlo Himb highlighted the lack of stringent implementation of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BERF) Act of 1873 and its provisions being too old and many becoming irrelevant in the present context to check and detect the influx of illegal immigrants in the State. Therefore, RSU urged the State government to hear the “common cry” and seriously look into the matter and come out with proper ILP regulation guidelines for the betterment of the state. For this, RSU assured to extend its fullest cooperation.  

Watsu Mungdang to organize competition/events during Tsüngremmong

Mokokchung, July 21 (MExN): As part of Tsüngremmong cum Mini Hornbill Festival celebration from August 1 to 3 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, Watsu Mungdang will be organizing various events, competition and stall at the venue. There will be flower exhibition cum sale from August 1 to 3, showcasing of traditional attire & ornaments, modern ethnic wear on August 2 (evening), for which interested designers are invited to showcase their designs, ward/Watsu unit competition of cooking indigenous food items (without utensils) on August 2 (morning), indigenous food stall, photo booth etc. Watsu Mungdang has informed that interested persons can have more information or do registration on or before July 25 through the following phone numbers: 8837354521, 9436006101.  

YTC offers condolences

Tuensang, July 21 (MExN): The Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) has expressed shock and grief over the demise of Tatongjungla, a retired ANM and wife of Kiozhi Yimchunger, former YTC president, in Tuensang on July 20. In a condolence message issued by its Information & Publicity Secretary, Mathew K Janger, YTC acknowledged that Tatongjungla was “a motherly figure who always dedicated to serve for the Yimchunger community.” The Council further conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
