ADC Mokokchung directs shopkeepers
MOKOKCHUNG, JULY 26 (MExN): The ADC & Administrator, Mokokchung Municipal Council, W Manpai Phom has directed all concerned to take steps towards proper maintenance of shops in Mokokchung, adding that checking of shops within the town will continue. According to a DIPR report, shopkeepers were directed to install waste boxes in front of their respective shops for garbage disposal and to maintain cleanliness and put up sign boards with CPL/LED bulbs for lighting in front of their respective premises during night time. They were also directed against stocking any materials on the main road and public places which may cause inconveniences to public.
Wokha Police sets up control room
DIMAPUR, JULY 26 (MExN): Wokha Police have opened a police control room as a hub of communication across police personnel on the ground and the citizens of the district. A press note from the SP, Wokha informed that the control room numbers are 9366107915, 7628903234 and 7628903234 (Whatsapp). Besides providing assistance to the public from mobile phone and whatsapp, it also seeks to help other emergency services on receipt information. The SP informed that the contact room will deal with emergency calls, enquiries via phone, text and social media. The public have been advised to make use of the service to inform the police regarding problems of law and order and other emergency information.
Gorkha students Freshers’ Day
Kohima, July 26 (MExN): The Gorkha Students’ Union Kohima will conduct its “Joint Gorkha Fresher’s Day” on July 28 at Gorkha Public Panchayat Hall, Chandmari, Kohima, Opposite Directorate of Printing and Stationary at 1:00 pm. NU scholars win debate
Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): A 3-member team- Hievinu Olivia Richa, Vilavonuo Keditsu, and AkhruluVero, Research Scholars of the Department of Geology, Nagaland University won a debate competition organised by the Duliajan Chapter of the ‘Association of Petroleum Geologists’on July 21. It was mentioned in a release that it was held at the Head Quarters, Oil India Limited, Duliajan, Assam. During the debate, the topic “Application of geo-sciences for sustainable growth is Utopian dream for country like India” was discussed. The Nagaland University team won the debate by defeating one team each from the Mizoram University, Gauhati University, and Assam University and two teams from the Dibrugarh University, the release further stated.
DECYF supports food safety drive
DIMAPUR, JULY 26 (MExN): The Industrial Estate Colony Youth Forum (DECYF), Dimapur today extended its support to the Department of Health and Family Welfare in its drive to impose food safety standards in Dimapur and the rest of the state. A press note from the DECYF stated that the Industrial Estate Colony, Tenali Market serves thousands of people for more than 10 colonies and nearby suburbs in neighboring Assam, and to ensure that the foods be fit for human consumption the forum has ordered all vegetables and fruit vendors as well as bakeries and other shops that strict action will be initiated if the food are found to be unhygienic and contaminated with chemicals injurious to health. It further supported the Chief Minister's call to stop using non-degradable plastic bags by November 2018. The forum asked all people and the business community in the area to strictly adhere by the rule.
Camp for persons with disabilities
Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): The Wokha District Legal Authority will be conducting a special camp for at town hall, Wokha in collaboration with Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Chief Medical Officer, 28 Assam Rifles, Social Welfare Department on July 31 and August 1, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. All the colony Chairmen, Goanboras, Village Council Chairman, Goanboras under Wokha district have been requested to inform and bring all the persons with disabilities to the venue. Facilities availableqill be treatment, examination, disabled certificate, legal consultation, and distribution of medicines, a release said.
