Power supply to Peren, Medziphema disrupted

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 8 (MExN): Power supply to Peren district and Medziphema area has been disrupted due to landslides near KMC old dumping site affecting 33kV AP-1 feeder feeding power supply to the above mentioned places. The Executive Engineer, Transmission in a press release informed that even though the department had restored the line several times during the last 2-3 days, the resumption of normal power supply to the areas remain unpredictable due to the continuing landslide.  

ANCSU to stage dharna on August 10

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 8 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) will be organizing a peaceful dharna on August 10 as an act of resentment against the failure of the state government to address their demands on a number of issues. A press release issued by ANCSU said it will not allow any government authority/officials to attend any program or functions in any colleges in the state on the day of the dharna. It also asked the college authorities to cancel/postpone any programme on the aforementioned day. It also directed all Kohima-based college students to assemble outside ANCSU office by 11 am for the dharna.  

DoSE notifies Govt schools on toilet and drinking water facilities

Kohima, August 8 (MExN): All the Principals/Headmasters of GHSS and GHS which do not have sufficient number of functional toilets and drinking water facilities in the schools are informed to collect the Baseline Survey Format and Guidelines by sending request to the email director.se.nagaland@gmail.com from the registered email of their establishment. The SDEOs shall initiate to collect the format for GMS & GPS under their jurisdiction. Emails received from personal mail IDs of individuals will not be entertained, stated a press release issued by Director of School Education, Wonthungo Tsopoe.  

AR nabs 2 with extortion slips

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 8 (MExN): The Kohima Battalion of the Assam Rifles apprehended two persons with extortion slips at Jail Colony on August 7. A press note from the PRO, Assam Rifles identified the apprehended persons as Luthutu Piekhuru and Kethosilie. The recoveries included 60 extortion slips amounting to Rs 5,36,500 and Rs 32,970 in cash. The two were later handed over to South Police Station, Kohima.  

Malayali Samajam Kohima condemns Tharoor’s remarks

KOHIMA, AUGUST 8 (MExN): The Malayali Samajam Kohima today condemned the observations of Kerala MP, Shashi Tharoor on Naga Headgear as “outlandish and hilarious”. “The citizens living in Nagaland in general and Keralites in particular are shocked with the provoking remarks made by a responsible personality like Shashi Tharoor,” a press note from the MSK President stated. “We appeal to the MP to withdraw his remarks and tender unconditional apology to the Naga people,” it urged.  

LYO cautions impersonators

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 8 (MExN): The Lhisemia Youth Organisation (LYO) today informed that two persons, namely Nrithung Kikon and Thepusato Lohe were caught impersonating one Khriezo Yhome and issuing demand letters at shops in Kohima. A press note from the LYO President, Khriesazo Liezietsu and General Secretary, Kekhrielelie Tseikha stated that the issue was taken up by the Lhisema Council on July 25 after which the “culprits accepted to abide by the following judgement passed by the council.” “Both the culprits confessed to have committed the crime and therefore shall bear equal responsibility. The case of impersonation and forgery is charged on them. Therefore, hereafter any untoward incidences occurred on them from Kohima, no responsibility shall be put on Lhisemia but the culprits themselves shall bear the responsibility in person,” the LYO said. It further added that if any incident occurs with any member of Lhisemia in reflection to their case, “the culprits and their family shall be held fully responsible.”
