NCD social work cum inspection
Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): The executives of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has informed all the 19 tribal councilors that a social work cum inspecting the ongoing development work at New Naga Cemetery site at Zani village area, 2 I/2 km from Dimapur town will be held on November 25. This was resolved in a meeting held on November 20, stated a press release from NCD. Therefore, all the 19 tribal councilors have been requested to carry their daos to participate in the social work without fail. Councilor gathering place: Zion hospital junction at 9:00 am and lunch to be provided at 11:00 am.
Wokha to observe Int'l Day Against Elimination of Violence Against Women
Wokha, November 22 (MExN): Commemorating the International Day Against Elimination of Violence Against Women, the District Administration Wokha in collaboration with District Level Centre for Women-MSK and OSC-Sakhi will be organizing a Walkathon against gender based violence on November 25. As per DIPR report, DC Wokha Orenthung Lotha has informed all concerned that it will be held under the United Nations mandated theme “Orange the World: Generation Equality Stands Against Rape” which will start from 6:00 am from Wokha town Police Point via Forest Colony junction till Local Ground which will be followed by a short programme at Town Hall. In this regard, all have been requested to send their staff/students/colony members from their respective Departments/Schools/Colleges/colonies for active participation and attend the same. The DC further requested all to positively attend the programme without fail.
FGN mourns demise of Captain Seta Vero
Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) on behalf of the Naga Army mourned the untimely demise of Captain Seta Vero, son of Razouchiyi Vero of Chapoketa village under Chakhesang Region who passed away on November 21. In a condolence message, Brigadier Nusuyi Nienu, GOC Southern Command, Naga Army, FGN stated that Captain Vero served under 15th Battalion, S/Command. He served the nation with utmost sincerity, loyalty and sacrifice towards the government whenever called for duty till his last breath. “The government has lost an obedient officer and has created a huge vacuum to be filled,” the message added. The FGN conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved families at this hour of grief and prayed that the “Almighty God give them peace and solace.”
Nukhu, Along mourn demise of Prof Alexander
Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): Deo Nukhu, former Advisor, Higher & Technical Education have expressed profound sadness at the untimely sudden demise of Professor Charles P Alexander who breathed his last at CIHSR, Dimapur on November 21. He was the Vice Chancellor of ICFAI University, Nagaland and also the former Professor of Philosophy at Patkai Christian College. Prof Alexander “fully devoted his life for the growth of higher education particularly in Nagaland and the country in general,” said Nukhu in a condolence message. “He was a great friend of both young and old and found to be very sincere and honest.” The Advisor prayed that the “Almighty God” will grant solace and comfort to the bereaved family and the departed soul to rest in eternal peace. Temjen Imna Along, Minister, Higher & Technical Education, Tribal Affairs also mourned the demise. “To have lost such a great personality like him, is indeed a great loss not only to the students' community, but an irreplaceable loss to the Naga society as well,” a condolence message from the Minister read. Along conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.
Excise Mobile Squad seizes codeine based cough syrup
Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): Excise Mobile Squad duty party manning Chümoukedima Excise Check Gate detected 412 bottles of codeine based cough syrup from a private vehicle on November 21. Khevito S Swu, Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition (MS) in a press release stated the articles were found concealed in the tool box in the car. The accused, Tshope Kapfo along with the vehicle and the articles were immediately seized and brought to Excise office and handed over to higher authority for further investigation, the release stated. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 and forwarded to Court. The release added that the seized articles were kept at Excise Malkhana and the vehicle confiscated by the Department concerned. The duty party consisted of Assistant Inspector Imonen, Head Constable Rentsamo and constables Anungla, Supong, Wati, Yongmeth, Lilanthung and Angathong.
