TSUD presidential meet today

Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): The Tenyimi Student Union Dimapur (TSUD) has convened an emergency presidential meeting on March 5, 10: 00 am at Tenyimi Complex. TSUD in a press release has requested all the unit presidents and esteemed members to attend the meeting without fail.

 

DNSU, Dimapur Police check sale of liquor

Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) along with Dimapur Police conducted prohibition drive against the sale of liquor in and around Dimapur on March 3. The team seized 272 bottles of assorted IMFL and foreign liquors at different outlets where an FIR has been lodged against the defaulters, a press release from DNSU Media Cell stated. The union also expressed shock that some of the seized liquors tagged "For Sale to Defense Personnel Only" were seen at one of the renowned restaurants in Dimapur. As such, the union has appealed the Commissioner of Excise to investigate the matter with “utmost importance.” DNSU also cautioned all the bars and restaurants in and around Dimapur to refrain from selling any kinds of liquor, “failing which the defaulters will be dealt with strict action as deemed fit and proper.”

 

NLVC bans fishing & hunting

Wokha, March 4 (MExN): The N Longchum Village Council (NLVC) under Wokha district, Wozhuro block has passed a resolution to ban fishing and hunting in its jurisdiction with effect from March 1. This was resolved during a meeting held on February 15, a press release from NLVC informed. It said that as per resolution no 4, defaulters will be penalized a fine of Rs 30,000 and stern action will be taken as per the council resolution.

 

TSUD to organize literary competition

Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): The Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur (TSUD) will be organizing a literary competition on March 14 at Immanuel College auditorium hall with Dr Hovithal Sothu, Project Director TaFMA, Government of Nagaland as special guest. Themed ‘Exploring Talents,’ the competition will be held on four categories - solo, drawing/art, extempore and essay writing. All the subordinate units/colleges and tribal units have been requested to submit the names of the participants on or before March 10 to the union’s Debate Secretary, Wete Khutso @+917005131837 or Finance Secretary, Asin Rengma @+918787509451. For any queries, one can visit TSUD office at TUD Complex during office hours, the union informed in its press statement.

 

Excise personnel seizes assorted IMFL

Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): The Dimapur Excise personnel intercepted a vehicle (Tata Sumo passenger taxi) and recovered 248 bottles of assorted IMFL on March 4. In this connection, one Aselu and Vepolu was arrested and booked under the relevant section of the NLTP Act 1989. Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition, Dimapur T Arilong Longkumer in a press release informed that the duty party was led by Allen Jamir AIE (i/c); Kiyelu, head constable and constables Tsuknung, Akahoto, Khekavi, Thejong, Khalenthong, Tsathongli and woman constable Kiyerangzaile. In a separate incident on March 4, Kohima Excise personnel also detected around 480 bottles of Rum and 120 numbers of can beer from one Tata Sumo. As per a press release from Deputy Superintendent of Excise, Kohima, the vehicle was intercepted while manning the Peducha checkgate. According to the Assistant Commissioner of Excise (Zonal) P Phyobemo Kikon, the duty party managed to apprehend the occupants after a tussle. The apprehended person has been booked under relevant section, it said.

 

Contraband seized

Kohima, March 4 (MExN): Highway patrol of DEF, Kohima intercepted one Maruti Gypsy and recovered 130 kilo (approx) of contraband ganja on March 2. PRO, DEF, Kohima in a press release said the vehicle bearing registration number NL 07H 9776 was intercepted while conducting routine MVCP near Zero Point, Chakabama. Accordingly, a regular case under NDPS Act has been registered at Kezocha Police Station for investigation, the release said.
