DGP Nagaland informs

The Director General of Police, Nagaland, TJ Longkumer, IPS called on all officers under the Nagaland Police, especially the Armed Wing to be ready with a volunteer force to help the administration in cases of landslides and other emergencies in their AOR. Further, all the officers are also directed to co-ordinate with the SPs and District Administration assist them with proper planning, briefing and to aid the domain experts.  

DC Kohima orders

In view of the recent occurrence of various disasters/landslides in Kohima district and with a view to ease/mitigate the damages caused, the Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan IAS has ordered for immediate removal of all the off-road and abandoned vehicles, construction materials, etc dumped on the roadside by the concerned authorities if not removed by the owners. The order also stated that any person violating the same shall be prosecuted as per relevant provisions of law. The order has been issued in the interest of public safety and to effectively manage various disasters in the district.  

DC Zunheboto cautions

Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Shanavas C in an advisory notice has informed that due to incessant rains, the level of streams/rivers may have increased over the past few weeks leading to increase in the volume of water flow and debris flowing under current. Multiple landslides have also occurred in different parts of the district. The general public has therefore been advised not to go for fishing/hunting/picnic etc. nearby streams/rivers during this monsoon season and to exercise precautionary measures so that threat to life and properties are mitigated.  

Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) notifies

As per circular issued by the Chief Engineer, PWD (Roads & Bridges), Er Limadondang Jamir, in view of the unprecedented damages to the road infrastructure caused due to the incessant rains during the last few weeks, all the field officers and staff of the PWD (R&B) Divisions have been directed to remain stationed in their place of posting, so as to oversee the restoration works on the roads, and be prepared to face any kind of eventuality. Further, the Commissioner & Secretary, Works & Housing have directed the officers and staff of the Department that any report of emergency nature with regard to the status of roads should be reported to the Control Room and R & B Correspondence WhatsApp without fail. Any officer or staff neglecting his/her duty shall be viewed seriously. Through another circular issued by the Chief Engineer, PWD (Works & Housing), Er H. Kahuto Sumi has directed that in view of the damages caused to the road and building infrastructure due to the incessant rains in the last few weeks, all the PWD (W&H) Divisions are to stay alert and be ready to face any kind of emergency situation in the state. Further, all the Divisions are directed to assist the Roads & Bridges Divisions in their respective jurisdictions, as and when called for.  

YAA appeal to rehabilitate deceased families

The Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) while sharing their concern to the affected families by the tragic incidents at Dzücharü Dzüvo, Phesama and Tsutha stream, Aghunato wherein, request the Government and authorities concerned to rehabilitate the deceased families by way of granting ex-gratia. YAA President, S Yansomong and General Secretary Achung Jangleh in a press release has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed to the Almighty for the departed souls to find solace in Him. While YAA is hopeful that those being on search would be retrieve soon. While appreciating the state government for making all possible efforts in battling against the forces of nature, YAA appeal ample remedial measures be reinforce to mitigate the situation across the state.
