JSUN calls ‘indefinite bandh’ of GHSS Jalukie Jalukie, March 22 (MExN): The Jalukie Students’ Union Nagaland (JSUN) has called for “indefinite bandh” of GHSS Jalukie from March 24 for “not honouring the MoU signed between the Nagaland government and the Old Jalukie Village Council during the establishment of Jalukie Town for appointment of Grade IV staff to the landowner.” A press release from JSUN President, Haizin Mpom and General Secretary, Pehiato Hingleu said that the union regarding the issue had approached the Education Department with due formalities and subsequently 15 days ultimatum was served for appointment of landowner candidate. “However, our rights were turned down without any respect.” “In this connection we are compelled to show our resentment by calling indefinite bandh till our demands are fulfilled in letter and spirit. The inconvenience that may befall the student community and concerned staffs for no fault of theirs is regretted during our democratic protest in upholding our rights,” the union added DAPO laments delay in pension for PwDs Peren, March 22 (MExN): The Differently Abled People’s Organisation (DAPO), Peren today alleged that the department concerned has failed to regularly disburse the pension for People with Disabilities (PwDs). A press release from president of DAPO, Peren, Ngaugongbe pointed out that the pension for PwDs is to be received every year by the beneficiaries. To substantiate the claim, DAPO highlighted that the disbursement of pension for the years 2013-2014 was done by the department in August 2014, and for the years 2014-2015 in March 2016 though delivery dates differ for towns and villages or sectors wise. “It is clearly shown that even the disbursement of the pension for the years 2015-2016 is high time to be delivered at this time. However, the Department till today did not give any signal on delivery of the pension which is long awaited by the People with Disabilities (PwDs),” it lamented. Further, the organization expressed regret that the department has failed to address the rights and needs of the PwDs in general. The funds and facilities meant for PwDs, it asserted, “must not be misused or delayed unconditionally rather such funds and facilities should be delivered in time according to the channel provided in a just and fair manner.” It hoped that the department will deliver the pension of the People with Disabilities at the earliest.
