CEO informs on extension of SSR of E-ROLL
Kohima, October 25 (DIPR): The Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, Abhijit, IAS, in a press release has informed that the Election Commission of India after reviewing the ongoing exercise of Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to 01.01.2018 as the qualifying date has extended the period of filing claims and objections up to 30thNovember, 2017. The date has been extended so that a Special Verification Drive within the ongoing Summary Revision can be undertaken in which Booth Level Officers would visit house to house for the purpose. The special drive of house to house visits by the BLOs will be from November 15 to 30, 2017. All Forms collected during this special drive shall be disposed of during SSR 2018, and be part of the final publication supplements.
Nagaland to observe Rashtriya Ekta Diwas
Kohima, October 25 (DIPR): Nagaland with the rest of the country will be observing Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) and Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas on October 31. The celebration will commemorate the birth anniversary of SardarVallabhai Patel, and the death anniversary of Lt. Indira Gandhi respectively. All District Administrators, State Government officials and Central Government officials in the state have been directed to organize a programme, and take pledges in their respective offices. The function at Nagaland Civil Secretariat will be held at 1:00 pm at the Conference Hall. All the government employees including those of the Central Government at Civil Secretariat have been requested to attend the function positively.
ENSU MOCK and WGCSC demand release of full scholarship
Kohima, October 25 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students' Union, Mount Olive College Kohima (ENSU MOCK) today stated that it unanimously stands with the demand made by ENCSU over the issue of installment basis scholarship release by the Department of Higher Education. Requesting the department to clarify the reason immediately, ENSU MOCK asked the Department of Higher Education and the state Government to bring out the reason in detail for releasing a scholarship in installment basis. ENSU MOCK, President, Vongtojuv and General Secretary, Yangsepi in a press release stated that the demand made by ENCSU to the Department of Higher Education is for the good of students and “unless the department releases full amount to the students, the Union will continuously stand with the help of ENCSU.” Therefore, ENSU MOCK stated that it fully supports the rightful demand of ENCSU and it is the department and the Government responsible to justify the ENCSU demand. The ENSU MOCK also urged the Department to deliver the justice immediately for the welfare of student’s community in Nagaland. Meanwhile, in support of Eastern Naga College Students' Union (ENCSU) to release post-matric scholarship in full and not on installment basis, the Wangkhao Government College Students' Council (WGCSC) has appealed to the Director Higher Education Nagaland and Minister concerned to look upon the matter and solve it at the earliest. WGCSC, General Secretary, Pengngam Konyak in a press release stated that students' of all the semesters of Wangkhao Government College strongly appeals to the authority to immediately release the scholarship in full and not installment basis. “Students are looking forward for positive response to our demand and before further delay,” the council added.
United North Block-B Council GB informs
Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): The United North Block-B Council GB, T Yanbothung Kikon has notified that Burma Camp in Dimapur comprises of seven recognized councils namely Veterinary Colony Council, UNB-A council, UNB-B Council, Naga Colony Council, Sunrise Colony Council, Niu Colony Council and Market Area Council. However, it has been observed that any kind of news related to the locality is reported as Burma Camp in general, the GB stated in a press release. Therefore, the GB has appealed to the publication houses to authenticate the detail address of the person(s) concerned before publishing to avoid any kind of confusion between the colony councils in future.
‘Energy Club’ workshop on October 31
Kohima, October 25 (MExN): The Electrical Inspectorate as the Nagaland State Designated Agency (NSDA) on energy conservation is conducting a ‘Workshop cum Training programme’ on formation of ‘Energy Club’ at the school level. In this regard the Nodal Officer (nominated by School Principal, Headmaster, Head Mistress) of the respective school are requested to attend the above Training on October 31 at 11:00 am in the Electrical Inspectorate Office premises at Kohima Night Bazar Building, Main Town. Er I V Chishi, Chief Electrical Inspector, Electrical Inspectorate, Kohima in a press release informed that expenditure of Accommodation and TA/DA of the Nodal officer will be borne by NSDA.
