IGNOU Joint Induction prog today
Dimapur, March 12 (MExN): IGNOU Joint Induction Programme for freshly enrolled learners of Diploma, Bachelors and Master Degree Programmes for January 2016 Session at Study Centre 2002, Dimapur Government College, Study Centre-2030, Unity College and Study Centre-2033, SD Jain Girls College will be conducted on March 13 at 11:00 am at Dimapur Government College. Dr. T. Iralu, Regional Director, IGNOU Kohima in a press release has informed all learners registered at the above mentioned IGNOU Study Centres are to personally attend the Induction Programme. Re-registered (RR) students for Bachelors and Master Degree Programmes in 2nd year and 3rd year for January 2016 Session at these Study Centres are also informed to collect their study materials on March 13 at 11:00 am. Kohima, March 12 (MExN): To commemorate 181st Raising Day of the Assam Rifles, a cycling expedition will be flagged-off by Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) at Kohima on March 14 from HQ IGAR (N).
Agri Directorate reviews ongoing activities
Kohima, March 12 (MExN): The Directorate of Agriculture reviewed its ongoing programmes and Kharif Campaign for the year 2016. The two day review programme was held at Conference Hall, Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima on March 8 and 9. D. Suokhrie, Director of Agriculture, addressing about 50 officers from various district and sub-division of the state on the inaugural day, urged all field officers to be diligent and sincere in their assigned duties inspite of challenges and difficulties. On the second day, Powerpoint presentations were presented by all the DAO’s/SDAO’s institutions.
AR install street lights at Pokhpur
Dimapur, March 12 (MExN): 46 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter 5 Sector Assam Rifles installed ten solar street lights in Pokphur village of Kiphire district. The solar lights were installed as part of Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme.
Travelers cautioned on jhum burning
Tseminyu, March 12 (DIPR): ADC Tseminyu, Vikhweno Meratsu hereby informed all concerned public that Tseminyu Village Community Union has fixed March 15 for setting of fire or burning the Jhum fields, stretching NH-2 to Tseminyu area by 10:30 am onwards. Travelers crossing this area and public general are therefore informed to keep away from the places during the period of setting fire as informed by the Tseminyu village community union.
Veterinary Aid Camp at Meluri village
Meluri, March 12 (MExN): A total of 380 animals were treated at a Veterinary Aid Camp was conducted by 164 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) (Home & Hearth) NAGA and 14 Field Mobile Veterinary Hospital under the aegis of Headquarters 3 Corps under Military Civic Action at Meluri village, Phek March 5. Villagers expressed their gratitude to Commanding Officer and all ranks of 164 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) (Home & Hearth) NAGA and Capt Rahul Sharma, Medical Officer, 14 Field Mobile Veterinary Hospital for their relentless assistance and contribution.
Nagaland's fermented delights in Kolkata food pop-up
Kolkata, March 12 (IANS): Wholesome with enhanced flavours, Nagaland's fascinating culinary treatment of pork, bamboo and soyabeans will be showcased in a tribal food pop-up. As many 10 dishes, mostly under-studied, are on offer on Sunday at Singhi Palace in south Kolkata, courtesy sisters Akumla and Alila of Nagaland's Ao tribe. "Some of the key items are smoked pork with fermented yam leaves (anishi), pork with fermented bamboo shoots, akhuni (fermented soyabeans) chutney, chicken with rice powder (amusu), stir-fried beef with Naga chilli," Ayan from Hill Tribe Cuisine, a group promoting northeast Indian cuisine in the city, told IANS. According to Alila, a normal Ao meal would include rice, some kind of meat (either dry or pork with bamboo shoots), boiled vegetables and spicy chilli. "We are trying to bring to the fore the diversity in northeast Indian cuisine which is largely unknown. Another aspect is showcasing women power from the region," Ayan said, adding their next focus is on Mizo and Khasi food.
ARCS office Mkg conducts training
Mokokchung, March 12 (DIPR): One day training on RKVY Skills Development & Enterprise training was organized by the office of the Assistant Registrar of Co-Operative Societies, Mokokchung at Ongpangkong Salang, Mokokchung on March 11. Senior Inspector Cooperative Societies (SICS) Imtionen was the resource person who gave elaborate explanation on Principles of Cooperative, Registration of Cooperative Societies and Book keeping. Altogether eight societies attended the training.
Free medical and dental camp held at Mitelephe village
Kohima, March 12 (MExN): On the occasion of 181st Raising Day of Assam Rifles, a free medical and dental camp was organized by 19 Assam Rifles and 3 Dental Unit under the aegis of HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles on March 10 at Mitelephe village, Kohima. An AR press release stated that patients with different ailments including respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, skin infection and dental ailments were treated and provided with free medicines by Dy Comdt Yogesh Patel, Asst Comdt Munulu Hesuh (MO) and Capt Rahul Nayak (RMO) and their entire team. Lecture on Dental Care and self hygiene was also organized for the villagers. A total number of 126 villagers including 46 children, 35 males and 45 females were provided with necessary treatment and free medicines. Refreshment and free meal for the locals were also catered during the Camp. Lithrongla Tongpi, ADC Kohima and Dr Sekhose, SMO Zakhama graced the occasion by their presence and lauded the efforts of 19 Assam Rifles.
