Interested individual can contact 9089220293 for further information.   KMC directs to white wash buildings Kohima, July 28 (MExN): In view of the forthcoming Independence Day on August 15, the Kohima Municipal Council had directed all the shopkeepers, institutions, agencies and public within the jurisdiction of Kohima Municipal to white wash the front side of the buildings and shops facing the roadside on or before August 10 to face lift the Capital City of Nagaland.  A press note issued by Kovi Meyase, Administrator, KMC has further directed all the shops/business establishments to hoist the National flag on top/front of their respective shops and buildings by 6 am on August 15 in honor of Independence Day.   Phek water supply disrupted Phek, July 28 (MExN): Drinking water supply to Phek district headquarters has been disrupted due to damages caused to main water supply pipelines of Laka water source by landslide. Informing this, Phek Farmers' Club (PFC) chief coordinator Thuputhiyi Venuh said the denizens have been deprived of drinking water supply for the past several weeks. Stating that most of the denizens are now using rain water as an alternative source, he expressed apprehension that it could cause health problem.  In this, he made a plea to the concerned department put its best effort to restore the water supply at the earliest.   PHH foodgrains under NFSA to be released from July 30 Kohima, July 28 (MExN): The Priority Household (PHH) foodgrains under National Food Security Act (NFSA) will be released to the identified beneficiaries through respective village council FPS/Urban FPS from July 30 from 10:30 AM onwards. Initially, the foodgrains will be released to the villages under Kezocha Circle of Kohima centre followed by other villages/FPS. All the concerned village councils have been directed to lift the foodgrains from the office of the Assistant Director, Food & Civil Supplies, Kohima, Nagaland.   SETAM renamed as NU-SET Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): With the permanent shifting of the Department of MBA under the School of Management Studies, Dimapur to Meriema Campus on July 20, the nomenclature of SETAM has been changed to NU-SET. Henceforth, the institute shall be renamed as Nagaland University – School of Engineering and Technology (NU- SET), a press note for the Dean of School DP Chaturvedi stated.   Territorial Army constructs toilet, hall Kohima, 29 July (MExN): As a part of its civic action programmes, the 164 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) (Home & Hearth) NAGA, has carried out various military civic action programmes in the recent past. A press note from PRO (Defence) Col C Konwer informed in a press note that it included  construction of a village council hall at Mongchen  village, Mokokchung and  toilet blocks and water tank at Philimi Village, Zunheboto and Avakhung Village, Phek.  The Village Council Chairman of these villages has acknowledged the importance of these development programmes in their villages, it added.   DDADU election on August 13 Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): The Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers Union (DDADU) has informed all its members that the Union’s presidential election for the 2016-19 tenure will be held on August 13. The decision for the same was taken at an executive meeting today held at DDADU registered head office, in Super Market Dimapur, the Union president said in a press note. The meeting also appointed Boto D Swu (Advocate) as chief election commissioner (CEC) along with Yikivi Chishi and Ruokuongulie as assistant election commissioner to oversee the presidential election, it added.  Meanwhile, the CEC for the DDADU election Boto D Swu has informed the intending candidates to collect their nomination paper from DDADU office from August 2 onward.  The candidates can file nomination papers from August 4-6 while they can withdraw the same from August 8-9.   The final scrutiny of nomination papers shall be made on August 10, the CEC said.   Training on soil and water management conducted in Kiphire Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): Altogether 15 farmer attended a training and demonstration on soil and water management at Zanger village, Pungro block on July 27. The programme was organised by ATMA Kiphire under PMKSY (2015-16). Stressing on the importance of soil and water management for sustainable crop production and for the preservation of ecology, the resource person of the programme, BTT Convenor Yamokiu discussed various cultural practices like mulching, growing of erosion resisting crops on hill slopes, growing of leguminous crops to maintain soil fertility etc. Training on water management was presented by Imliwati Agriculture Technology Manager Pungro block in the second technical session where he stressed the importance of water harvesting technique, micro irrigation. He also  encouraged the farmers to practice these methods which will help them to grow crops during the dry season, a press note from Limaakum T Longkumer Deputy Project Director, ATMA Kiphire informed.   Assam Rifles apprehend three alleged gun runners Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): Two alleged arms peddlers were arrested by the 37 Assam Rifles in two successive operations conducted in Chumukedima.  According to an AR press note, the first arrest was made on July 12 when two alleged peddlers were intercepted in an auto-rickshaw near Gate Number 1, Chumukedima.Subsequent frisking of the individuals led to the recovery of one Point 22 Pistol with magazine, it added. The apprehended individuals were identified as C Yimto of  Ward No-9, Chumukedima and Kedosetuo Medoze of Chumukedima Village by the AR. They were handed over to Diphupar Police Station the same day.  In the second arrest was made on July 21 when the paramilitary troops launched an operation based on information regarding likely arms peddling activity being carried out by an ex Cadre of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) from a house in Ward No-6, Chumukedima. The AR said that one illegal Point 22 Pistol was recovered from the house and arrested the ex KRA cadre, identified as Angam Jangam, after spot questioning.He revealed that had surrendered at Military Camp, Manja in 2014 and had often indulged in arms peddling activities since then, the AR maintained.  He was later handed over to Diphupar Police Station.
