One killed in accident Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): One person was killed when a truck fell off the National Highway-29 and into the Chathe River near the Chumukedima Police Check gate late on Saturday night. Police informed that the ill-fated truck was returning from Manipur when the accident occurred at around 9:30pm. Two others escaped with minor injuries.   ANCSU 37th Foundation Day on August 2 Kohima, July 31 (MExN): The 37th Foundation Day of All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) will take place on August 2 at the Zonal Council Hall, Kohima from 10:30 am. Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Greetings will be shared by Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) President, Subenthung Kithan and ANCSU Tribunal General, Kezhazer Angami. Former ANCSU President Theja Therie will also speak on the occasion. Presidential address will be delivered by ANCSU President, Zhoku Thuluo. The function will be chaired by former ANCSU Auditor General, Kesosul Christopher Ltu, while ANCSU General Secretary Benjongakum Longchar will propose vote of thanks.   Awareness camp on substance abuse Jalukie, July 31 (MExN): Health Sub-Centre Management Committee of Mhainamtsi, Jalukie block under Nagaland Health Project held an awareness camp on ‘substance abuse’ at Community Hall, Mhainamtsi on July 30. The resource person of the programme, chaired by Sani Stephen, Member Secretary HSCMC Mhainamtsi, was Ngauzeulungbe, District ICTC Supervisor, NSACS Peren. Invocation prayer was said by MG Gangkhui, Pastor, RBC (M), while vote of thanks was delivered by Adam Gangmei, President, Youth Club (M).   BJP elevates two officials Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): The Nagaland State BJP President, Visasolie Lhoungu has elevated James Patton to the post of Convenor Co-operative Cell at the state level. The appointment has been done “in the interest of the party and in recognition of the seniority and loyalty to the party,” stated the president in an order. In a separate order, the State BJP President also appointed L. Meribemo Kinghen as Wokha District President of the party on adhoc basis. The handing and taking over charge of the district office should properly be done with intimation to the party head office, Visasolie stated.  The orders have been issued based on the meeting resolution passed on July 21, 2016 by the party workers of the district concerned, it was mentioned.   ENPO greet Changs Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) has extended sincere greetings to all Changs on the occasion of Nyaknyulum festival which is being celebrated in the first week of August. “The ENPO hope and pray that, while celebrating the festival with full gaiety and enthusiasm, the people of Chang community will extend a message of light and peace to the people around the globe as the festival itself signifies a triumph over darkness,” the ENPO stated in its greetings. Meanwhile, the ENPO has also felicitated the new team of ENSF led by Sepili Sangtam as president and Imtichoba Chang as general secretary for the tenure 2016-18. While congratulating the team, the ENPO expressed hope that the newly elected ENSF team consisting of well educated and dedicated student leaders would work for the welfare of the student's community particularly the eastern Nagaland area “in full and sincere dedication”.   PTYC constitute new office bearers Kohima, July 31 (MExN): The Phek Town Youth Club (PTYC) re-construction committee/advisory board convened a meeting on July 24 last and constituted a new team of office bearers of the PTYC for the tenure 2016-18 with Seyieveto Lohe as Convenor, Veto Hoshi as co-convenor, Chepetso Koza and Nuthitalu Luruo as Secretary Generals. Other members include: Secretary of Finance- Nukuto Chizo, Treasurer- Pelo Kronu, Secretaries of Public Relations/Media- Meyete Thahu, Chizokho Vero and Zhoto Dozo, Secretaries of Sports- Beduve Rio, Wezote-u Mero and Chewule K. Tara, Secretaries of Art & Culture-Razukhruyi Dozo and Mulevolu Chizo. Advisory Board: Convenor- Vesheta Khesoh, Members- Asakho Venuh, Kuhusu Vero, Ruvi Nusory and Veshekho Rhakho. Monitoring Board: Convenor- Neingutso Mekrisuh, Members- Mulehu Khesoh, Zhosakho Khesoh and Shekhohii Chizo.
