Gov extend Mongmong greetings

Kohima, September 2 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi has extended warm greetings to the Sangtam community on the occasion of Mongmong festival. The Governor, in a message, stated that Nagaland was lush with diverse culture and called for the preservation and promotion of the rich culture and tradition of the Naga tribes. He hoped that the younger generation while keeping pace with the modernity will carry forward their culture and tradition and display their skills and knowledge of their ancestral history. Governor Ravi wished the community prosperity in all spheres of life and prayed to almighty to bring about success to the people of Nagaland in general.

 

Inter tribal fellowship celebrates 
‘unity in cultural diversity’

Zunheboto, September 2 (MExN): The Youth Department of Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church (ZTSBC), SBAK-Aizuto on August 31 organised a special inter tribal fellowship under the theme ‘unity in cultural diversity.’ The programme was attended by Ao, Lotha, Manipuri, Nepali, Angami and many more tribes. The Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto, Nito Mount, Catholic Church, NCRC also attended the programme. The Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto Peter Lichamo, NCS graced the event.   The programme started with invocation and keynote address by Aketo Yeptho, Youth Leader ZTSBC.  Special folk dance was presented by Nepali Baptist Church, cultural item display by Ao Baptist Church, Lotha Baptist Church, Tenyimi Baptist Church and ZTSBC Youth. The programme ended with special folk song sung by ZTSBC Youth and benediction Rev Dr Daniel Chishi, Pastor ZTSBC. Bombo K Yeptho, Media Supervisor, ZTSBC in a press release stated that the programme was attended by more than thousands people from different tribes and churches.

 

P&AR informs on amendment of policy regarding promotions

Kohima, September 2 (MExN): Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department in an office memorandum stated that the Government of Nagaland has further reviewed the policy for relaxation of the qualifying years of service for promotion and decided to revive the provisions as contained in the earlier Office Memorandum dated December 17, 2014 with additional provisions and modifications as follows:
•    In case of Departments/Services where there are no officers fulfilling the criteria as per the service rules to man the higher posts in a Department, an officer having served more than 20 (twenty) cumulative years of service may be allowed officiating promotion after a minimum of l (one) year at the immediate rank subject to the clearance of P&AR Department and subsequent regularisation by the DPC within 3 months.
•    Thereafter subsequent promotions may be granted after a minimum of 6 (six) months only, if there are no officers in the higher post to fill the vacancies in the Department subject to the clearance of P&AR Department and subsequent regularisation by the DPC within a period of 3 (three) months.
