Army Commander visits Nagaland and Manipur

Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): Lt Gen Anil Chauhan, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC, GOC-in-C Eastern Command visited units and formations of Spear Corps and Assam Rifles in Nagaland and Manipur from April 27 to  29. According to an update from the PIB (Defence Wing) the Army Commander was briefed by Lieutenant General Johnson P Mathew, AVSM, VSM GOC Spear Corps at his Headquarters “on the operational preparedness as well as counter insurgency in Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.” The PIB also said that during the visit, “he was also briefed about the progress on the Framework Agreement of ongoing Naga Peace Talks.” The Army Commander also visited various Army and Assam Rifles Headquarters of Spear Corps in Nagaland and Manipur to take stock of situation on ground.

FGN mourns demise of Late Major General Thailik

Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): The FGN has expressed shock and sadness over the untimely demise of late Major General Thailik who passed away on April 28 at his resident. In a condolence message, Gen Tavecho Lala, Commander-in-Chief, FGN said that late Thailik joined National Defence Service in 1985 and served the Nation till his last breathe. “His untimely demise was a great loss for all of us. Yet his true sacrificed for the Nation will still remain alive in our hearts and in the annals of the Naga Nation,” the Gen said while conveying condolence to the bereaved family with prayers for the departed soul. 

Lower PWD Panchayat Kohima new team

Kohima, April 29 (MExN): A new team of Lower PWD Panchayat, Kohima took charge of the office for the tenure 2021-2026. The new team is headed by Meyi Sanglir as chairman, Seyio Yiese- vice chairman, Echongbeno Ngullie- general secretary, Lohrii- joint secretary, Anongo- information & publicity secretary, Dziesevituo Suohu- treasurer and Medosalhuo as GB. A group of council members, advisors, jury board and woman coordinator were elected in the general body meeting, a release received here stated.
