KMH condemns alleged rape on minor
Noklak, September 5 (MExN): The Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam (KMH) condemned the alleged rape on a minor by a 43 year old man in Dimapur. Expressing shock at the crime, the KMH termed it as “the most barbaric act of violence against a child.” It appealed to the law enforcing agency to leave no stone unturned and to punish the criminal “without pardon which is befitting as per the law.”
Konyak Region reaffirms commitment to Yung Aung-led NSCN (K)
Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): The Konyak Region of the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) has endorsed the party’s decision to expel its Kilonser Starson, Lt Gen Niki and Lt Gen Nyemlang, stating that they “have backtracked from their national commitment.” Konyak Region Chairman Maj Gen Shahlem said in a press release on September 5 that the entire Konyak Region national workers “are fully intact” and reaffirmed its commitment to the leadership of Yung Aung. “We, the Konyak Region will not allow the artificial boundary created in early 1970s to divide the Konyak Family or the Nagas as a whole,” it stated. Further, the Konyak Region asserted that it would “uphold the unity and integrity of all Nagas” and said it would not remain a silent spectator to “anti-national elements” trying to dispurt the Naga independence struggle.
One held with arms
KOHIMA, September 5 (MExN): One person, stated to be an "active cadre" of the GPRN/NSCN, was apprehended by the security forces in Dimapur. According to a press release from the Defence PRO, Kohima, the unnamed man was apprehended on September 4 near Burma Camp. It said that based on specific intelligence input , an operation, along with the police, was launched resulting in the arrest of one individual. One .22 calibre pistol with magazine and four rounds, three detonators, three extortion slips and a GPS device were also seized from his possession, the release said. The individual and the recovered items were handed over to the police.
Security forces seize IMFL
Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): Security Forces reported the seizure of IMFL in Dimapur on September 3. According to a press release from HQ IGAR (N), based on specific intelligence regarding illegal activities in general area 7th Mile, Dimapur, Security Forces along with Police representative launched an operation and apprehended one person identified as Dilber Hussain (19), a resident of Model village, Dimapur. Recoveries included 90.8 cases of rum and whisky, 38 cases of canned beer amounting to approximately Rs 10.38 lakh, in addition to one khukri and Rs 21.28 lakh in cash. The apprehended individual along with recovered items was handed over to Chumukedima Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation, the release added.
Sekrüzu Area Sports Association mourns
Kohima, September 5 (MExN): The Sekrüzu Area Sports Association expressed sadness at the demise of its veteran leader Puyoi Nyekha who passed away on September 4 at Kohima hospital while undergoing treatment.
“He was the president of the Association for the tenure 1976-78, and had rendered remarkable service towards the upliftment of our area particularly the association,” it said in a condolence message on Saturday.
Stating that his sudden demise is a great loss, the Association prayed for God to comfort the bereaved family and for the soul of the departed to rest in peace.
