Assembly Committee on central laws to meet May 27

KOHIMA, May 25 (MExN): The Committee to Examine the Applicability of Laws Passed by Parliament (CEALPP) in Nagaland is scheduled to hold its introductory meeting on May 27 at 11:00 am at the C. Chongshen Committee Room of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat. According to a press release from the Assembly Secretariat, the meeting has been convened by K. G. Kenye, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Chairperson of the CEALPP. All members of the committee have been requested to attend the meeting. The CEALPP was constituted to study the relevance and applicability of central laws in the context of Nagaland’s special constitutional provisions under Article 371(A). The notice was issued by Secretary-in-Charge Khruohituonuo Rio and circulated to key media outlets and government offices.

KPC mourns death of journalist

KOHIMA, May 25 (MExN): The Kohima Press Club (KPC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of its member Wapangnungsang Pongen, who died on May 24. Pongen served as a full-time correspondent for Lenjeter, an Ao vernacular monthly magazine, and had been a member of the Kohima Press Club for over three years. In a statement, the club described him as a “jovial, humble young journalist who was always full of life.”  “He always took part in our Club's activities with great enthusiasm. In his untimely demise, we have lost not just a young colleague but an efficient and active member whose absence will be deeply felt in the days to come,” the KPC stated. Offering condolences to the bereaved family and all who were touched by Pongen’s life, the KPC said his memory will live on in their hearts. “We pray that God grant them strength and solace as they grieve the loss of a promising son,” it added. The club also offered prayers for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.

Mass social work in Phek

Phek, May 25 (MExN): A part of the monsoon preparedness, a mass social work with special emphasis on cleaning of roads and drainage will take place at Phek town on May 31. Informing this, Phek deputy commissioner Rhosietho Nguori stated that the social work will start from 6:00 AM onwards. All the Govt. Employees have been asked to participate in the mass social work as well as cleaning of the office premises with strict attendance. All the citizens of the town have been directed to conduct social work in their respective jurisdiction. All shopkeepers/business establishments have been directed to clean in and around their respective shops. Further all ward Councillors have been requested to identify collection points at their respective ward for disposal of the waste.
