A three-day Sepaktakraw training programme organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland in collaboration with ANPSA Central concluded on July 9 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung. The event brought together trainees from four districts - Mokokchung, Wokha, Zunheboto and Longleng - representing eight different schools.

 

National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme conducted advocacy workshop on vector borne diseases at the CMO conference hall, Longleng on July 8.  Key participants included Town Council Members, Dobashis, Ward Presidents, and CSOs. A technical presentation was delivered by Nyumoi Phom, Malaria Consultant, who highlighted the burden of malaria and other vector borne diseases in Longleng district, symptoms, transmission cycle, and diagnostic approaches; Preventive measures including use of Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets, indoor residual spraying, and environmental management; Importance of prompt treatment-seeking behavioural and community surveillance. The interactive session enabled stakeholders to clarify doubts and share field-level challenges, which were addressed by the technical team. 
Emergency relief fund (ERF) under District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Niuland was handed over to 10 families affected by flood under Kuhuboto Subdivision and one family under Nihokhu EAC Circle by SDO (C) Kuhuboto on July 8.
Educentre Livelihood & Entrepreneurship Skills Centre (ELESC) distributed food relief packages to the families affected by the recent floods at Vilhume colony, Dimapur. On July 8, ELESC in collaboration with the Vilhume Council began the distribution of food relief packages to over 80 affected families across the flood-hit colony. Special attention was being given to vulnerable groups including children, elderly persons, and people with disabilities. Lezo Putsure, Chairman of ELESC said, “These food packages are part of a broader effort to provide immediate relief and support long-term recovery in the affected communities.”
Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung today conducted an orientation programme for the newly admitted first semester students of BA, BSc and BCom at the college auditorium. Principal Dr I Wati Imchen outlined the college’s vision to transform it into a hub of Multidisciplinary Studies and Centre for Indigenous Research of National and International Relevance. This academic year, FAC launched its Commerce stream, welcoming 28 students as its first batch. The college administration announced a 50% reimbursement of admission fees for the highest scorers across all three streams - Arts, Science and Commerce. The orientation programme featured sessions on the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme structure under NEP 2020 conducted by Vice Principal LS Vinod Kumar. Students were briefed on the college’s code of conduct by Talisenla, Associate Professor and Head of Education Department, while College Librarian Dr Lendina familiarised the newcomers with the library facilities and resources.
Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS) celebrated its annual Fresher’s Meet today in the school auditorium, welcoming the newly admitted Class 11 students of Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. The event was graced by Chandu Agarwal, Chairman of the Dimapur Red Cross Society. School Principal Monoj Bhattacharjee delivered the welcome address, extending his best wishes to the incoming batch. The highlight of the event was the crowning of Nighakivi Sumi and Neshe Meheshu as Mr. Fresher and Miss Fresher respectively.
