Assam Rifles conducted a motivational lecture at Sainik School, Pungalwa aimed at inspiring students to consider careers in the armed forces on October 14. The event witnessed overwhelming participation of 250 students including teachers. At the event a senior Indian Army officer shared his experience in the forces. Throughout the interaction, students were encouraged to focus on their academic and physical development, recognizing that these foundations are essential for future success in any field, particularly in the military. The officers also interacted with students, addressing their questions and providing insights into the various opportunities available in the armed forces.

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Rural Division of Dimapur celebrated Global Handwashing Day at GHSS Medziphema on October 15. Keynote address was delivered by Er Seyievizo, SDO of PHE- Medziphema and the resource person was Imtirenla Longkumer, Assistant Professor, guest faculty from Department of Environmental Studies, Dimapur Government College (DGC). A handwashing demonstration was led by students from Department of Environmental Science, DGC. This initiative was organised by PHED Rural Division Dimapur and sponsored by WSSO PHED Nagaland Kohima. Similar programme was observed at GMS 7th Mile village by PHED Urban Division.
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Jayanti was observed at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on October 15.  The programme was attended by the Governor La Ganesan along with the officers and staff of the Governor's Secretariat.
The Nagaland Chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage –INTACH, held the INTACH Heritage Quiz Competition for schools from classes 7-10, at Don Bosco Institute of Development & Learning on October 15. Altogether 56 students in teams of two participated from six schools: Hollotoli School, Bethesda HSS, Christian HSS, Holy Cross School, Ram Janaki HSS, and St Mary’s HSS. The winning Team in the Dimapur City Round was Nitish Kumar Das and Rohan Das of Class 10, from Ram Janaki HSS.  They will go on to the Regional Round to be held at Guwahati and to the Nationals at Delhi if they succeed in the Regional Round.
Global Hand Washing Day was observed at Government Higher Secondary School, Jotsoma with around 120 students, teachers and staff on October 15. IEC Consultant, Kohima division Vibou Seyie shared that through hand washing with soap, many water and sanitation related diseases can be averted. She said that this simple, cost effective measure reduces diarrheal and respiratory diseases by 40 % and 30% respectively, as research suggests. Sanitation and Hygiene Consultant, Virhelie Kruneilie demonstrated the seven steps of hand washing. The programme was organized by PHED, Kohima Urban Division and sponsored by WSSO, PHED, Nagaland, Kohima. Soaps, pens and refreshments were also distributed to all the participants, as a symbolic gesture. JE, Er Medozeu Chatsu and Er Marwati gave away a token of appreciation, a certificate, wall hangings with relevant IEC messages and toilet cleaning materials to the school authority.
Public Health Engineer Department (PHED), Mon organised Global Hand Washing Day at Green Mount School, Tammong village. L Ngamnyei Konyak Mobile ICTC Counsellor, the resource person thoroughly discussed about air brone infectious diseases and it's types, causes and preventive measures that spread among the children in the school. A total of 60 students and 16 teachers attended the programme. T Pangken Konyak, Chemist distributed prizes to the winners of Essay writing and Painting Competition. Later, hand washes, soaps, hand sanitizers and toilet cleaning essentials were distributed to the students and teacher.
In an effort towards enabling the shift from rote learning to higher order thinking skills (HOTS) in education, the NECTAR project is working with NBSE to strengthen evaluation practices under the Exam Reforms component. The Educational Initiatives (Ei) has been on boarded by the project to implement this programme. In line with this, a two-day workshop on ‘Strengthening Evaluation Practices’ got underway on October 15. A total of 147 examiners and head examiners of Classes 9 and 10 for four subjects from both government and private schools will be trained to reduce inter-rater variability and improve overall evaluation practices in the state. The workshop is being held at the Directorate of School Education and at NBSE office, Kohima and will conclude on October 16. 
Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Phek division observed Global Handwashing Day on October 15 under the theme ‘Why Clean hands are still important?’ The campaign was organised at Anganwadi centre, Gidemi village. Importance of handwashing with soaps which is considered one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent disease like diarrhoea and hormonal diseases was discussed and the seven important steps of handwashing with soaps were demonstrated. To mark the day, sanitary items like soaps, hand towels and segregation bins were distributed to all the participants.
Government Middle School, Aradhura, Leirie Chazou, Kohima in collaboration with 12th Battalion NDRF conducted a school safety programme led by Inspector, Vikhodi Rhetso, Team Commander NDRF, Thizama of 12th BN NDRF Itanagar, on October 15. The Head Teacher, Thejangulie Kirha, in his welcome address stated that not just the students alone but also the teachers would immensely benefit from the programme. Team Commander, Vikhodi Rhetso highlighted the purpose of the program and urged the students to actively learn and remember the safety measures, as remembering and implementing it at the right time can save lives. The NDRF Team demonstrated activities covering Earthquake Safety Measures (Do’s and Don’ts), How to Apply CPR, FBAO, Bandaging & Dressing, How to Control Bleeding, How to Move or Lift Patients during Emergencies etc. (DIPR Photo)
On the occasion of Global Handwashing Day on October 15, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Kohima Rural Division held an event at Government Higher Secondary School Tseminyu with the students. Ashale Seb, District Coordinator of PHED, emphasised the importance of handwashing with soap in preventing diseases like diarrhea and pneumonia, which sadly claim the lives of millions of young children each year. The team visit to the Primary Health Centre at Chunlikha provided an opportunity for interactions with healthcare workers, one of whom demonstrated the correct handwashing steps with soap before and after tending to patients. The exchanges with both healthcare workers and students underscored the positive influence of the Sanitation and Behaviour Change Communication initiatives in fostering personal hygiene practices.
