The Jalukie Town Council launched biodegradable carry bags and products aimed to introduce eco-friendly alternatives to conventional plastic bags at the Women’s Welfare Hall in Jalukie town on August 31. The special guest, Vineet Kumar, DC Peren commended local entrepreneurs for their efforts in developing the biodegradable carry bags and products. Kumar urged the business community to embrace these eco-friendly options and collaborate with the town council in fostering a cleaner and better future. (DIPR Photo)District Health Society, Zunheboto conducted district level training on Mothers’ Absolute Affection (MAA) on August 29 and 30. Dr Ivikali, Medical Officer, District hospital as the resource person highlighted on building an enabling environment for breastfeeding through awareness generation activities, targeting pregnant and lactating mothers, family members and society in order to promote optimal breastfeeding practices. She stressed on reinforcing lactation support and services at public health facilities through trained healthcare providers and skilled community health workers. She further elaborated on the key messages to be delivered to the mother’s such as early initiation of breastfeeding and also the benefits of breastfeeding to the baby and mother. The training was attended by CHOs, GNMs and ANMs.Under the National Food Safety Project Scheme ‘Strengthening of Food Safety Ecosystem in the State’, Mokokchung district received Modified Food Safety on Wheels vehicle at Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung. The MFSW will enable the Food Safety Mokokchung Zone to carry out intensive training and generation of awareness among FBOs (Food Business Operators) and consumers, execute testing of surveillance samples and also provide on the spot testing of common food adulteration. Certificates were given to the trainees for completing the training course. As a former hosteller himself, he encouraged the students to make new friends and learn good things from one another. He further expressed hope that they will together march forward towards the improvement and development of DIET.
