North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) hosted a comprehensive training programme on mushroom cultivation under the supervision of Dr Lily Sangpui, Assistant Professor, NEISSR at the Peace Centre on May 30. The training was conducted by Lanthou Mark Gonmei, programme manager, SBI Gram Saksham Project Chümoukedima and Jerome Mungkung. The programme was designed to provide participants with both theoretical and practical understanding of mushroom cultivation.
Assam Rifles in a joint effort with Security Services Wing of Brahma Kumaris organised lectures and workshop for troops, families and students of ARPS, Kohima on May 27. The sessions saw participation of Rajyogi Brahma Kumar Dr Purushottam, Rajyogi Brahma Kumari Rupa and Rajyogi Brahma Kumari Dr Priya. The lectures and workshops culminated with a felicitation ceremony.Longleng District observed World Menstural Hygiene Day with girl students of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya Residential Hostel, Longleng under the theme “Together for a Period Friendly World” on May 28. Dr Suyimzenla, MO RBSK oriented the students about menstural hygiene and cautioned them against the use of unscientific and unhygienic Materials during their Menstural cycle. Awareness on the importance of menstruation, menstural hygiene, use of proper disposal of sanitary products were highlighted, followed by the distribution of sanitary pads.Menstrual Hygiene Day was observed under the theme ‘Period Friendly World’ at Govt High School, Phek Town on May 29. The programme was carried out by Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) team comprising of Dr Avono Medoze, Vekupolu GNM and Kotsho School Health Program Coordinator. The day was observed with an aim to promote awareness and educate on menstrual health. The team distributed sanitary pads to all the adolescent girls and prizes were also awarded to those participants who have actively participated during the programme.North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) organised a three-day training programme on skills for social workers. “There is an ardent need to groom students to make them future ready. Aligning students to the changing pulse of the market is one way to achieve this,” said Dr Lily Sangpui, coordinator for the training programme. Mock interviews and group discussions, as well as practical sessions on resume and CV preparation, were also conducted. LTD; Benjamin Khasouso, Assistant Professor at NEISSR; and Ajay Sethi, the Managing Director of NITI.The District Tobacco control Cell (DTCC) Zunheboto accompanied by the police personals and No Tobacco Club Zunheboto conducted an enforcement drive near the educational institutions under COTPA Act 2003 sec 6(b) across Zunheboto town on May 29. During the drive, seven shops were penalised under the COTPA Act 2003.Food Safety Mokokchung Zone in collaboration with FSSAI empanelled Agency MS Certification Services Pvt. Ltd, Kolkata carried out various Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) initiatives such as hygiene rating & high risk audit of eateries and food manufacturing units, eat right school, eat right campus, eat right place of worship & eat right vegetable market across Mokokchung, Tuensang and Zunheboto Districts from May 21 to 29. C Merenlemba Ao, Designated Officer (Food Safety) Mokokchung Zone stated that hygiene rating certificate is valid only for two years and that re-audit of the establishments will be done every two years. He urged the Food Business Operators (FBOs) to continue to maintain the standards and create its unique identity as responsible Food Business establishments.State College of Teacher Education (SCTE) Kohima celebrated cultural day with the theme ‘weaving a tapestry of humanity’ with Minister for Higher education & Tourism, Temjen Imna Along as the special guest. Speaking at the programme, Imna Along called on the teachers stating that ‘as you pass out from this institution you will be going to different fields and institution where you have a key role to play in shaping our future Naga generation.’ He added that teaching profession is not the last option as many Nagas think but in fact it is the greatest option, to be able to teach and build is one of the greatest blessing. The placement drive was organised at NEISSR, Peace Centre, Chümoukedima in collaboration with NGOs, Hospitals, institutions, schools, colleges and Entrepreneurs. Some of the major recruiters were Yapangsangla Longkumar from National Career Service (NCC), Ministry of Labour and employment, Abdul Saleem from Rehabilitation Officer, NCSCDA, Ministry of Labour, Hafsa Kasadan, director from GEMS Kerala, Palliative Care Centre, SR Edu Tech Pvt. Ltd. Gogivers Recruitment, NITI etc. Ajay Sethi, Managing Director of NITI was the resource person who trained the students on interview skill development and Resume writing. More than 100 students participated and benefited in the drive. The Assemblies of God Wokha Section Conference cum Section office inauguration programme was held on the theme “Enlarge the place of your tent” with Rev Moses Murry, General Superintendent, AGEI as the speaker at Wokha Section Office Complex on May 28 and 29. The programme started with opening prayer by Rev T Ngullie, greetings by Rev Kevihulie Pienyu, District Superintendent, Nagaland Assemblies of God Council and words of encouragement and installation service were led by Rev Moses Murry. The advisor inspected and assessed the school building and infrastructure of the school. He called upon the school authority not to depend everything on government, as many of the teachers and staffs are local people. He urged them to be responsible for improvement of the schools and requested the school principal and the staff to let the students be involved in the cleanliness of the school. Yhome also assured that “40 to 50 schools would be upgraded within 5-10 years” and that he would also to look into the matter regarding shortage of teachers. The main objective of the training is to give the basic knowledge on animals rearing and faro Activities for sustainability in Livestock Production, self-sufficient and entrepreneurship. The training emphasis on skill development, better livestock management in a cost efficiency manner and adoption of scientific method in various parameters that can lead to increase in production, productivity and a better earning.
