NAGALAND OBSERVES FIRE SERVICE WEEK

As part of the Fire Service Week, the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, Nagaland will conduct awareness on fire prevention and safety campaign on April 14 from 8:00 am onwards across the state. In capital Kohima, the designated stoppage points for the campaign include; CRPF junction Lerie, Mohonkhola junction, PHQ junction, TCP Gate junction, New NST junction, Keziekie market, Tinpati junction and High School junction. Dimapur: City Tower, Notun Bosti, DC office junction, PWD junction, MP road junction and Super Market. Chumukedima: Sieurhuza, 2nd Gate, Chumu Bazaar and Sovima junction. Mon: New Site junction, Night Station and Bazaar line. Phek: Police Point, Bethany Colony, Hospital junction, DC office junction, High School junction and Police Check Gate (Bible Hill). Tuensang: Clock Tower and High School junction.  

Zunheboto: Police Point, DC office junction and BOC. Mokokchung: Sungkom, Police Point and Sewak Gate. Wokha: Police Point, Zero Point and Longsa Gate. Kiphire: DC office, Bazaar junction and Police Point. Peren: Police Point and New Jalukie Bazaar line. Longleng: Adjoining Leinak & Shamkang ward police point, NST junction, Shayung ward and Main Zero point (Longleng Town).

  The Fire Service Week will take place from April 14 to 20.  

SAFETY MEASURES *

Call & Inform Fire Service immediately as and when fire breaks out. Do not panic

* Do not misuse Fire Service Telephone Numbers. It is a punishable offence

* Give right & precise information.

* Use appropriate fire extinguishers at the initial stage to contain fire. * Do not pour water on Oil & Electrical fire. Use appropriate extinguishers

* Inform Power Deptt to cut-off power line in the locality to avoid further catastrophe

* Give way to fire tenders to pass unobstructed

* Fire Sirens are not to be used by any individuals/organisations. VIPs & other utility services may kindly use their respective sirens

* Locate the fire incident/spot, show & guide Fire Personnel the shortest possible route * Locate sources & supply water at the vicinity of the fire incident

* Do not disturb/drag Fire Delivery Hoses while Fire Personnel are combating fire

* Install proper Fire Extinguishers/Fire Alarms/Smoke Detectors/Fire Hydrants & Sprinkler systems * Maintain small water reserve tank, so to tackle fire hazard before Fire Service arrives

* Kitchen fire/gas, candles, lamps etc should be properly extinguished when not in use * Use certified & standard electrical appliances viz. Wires, plugs, fuse, switches, sockets etc.

* Practice family evacuation drills/plans
