Nagaland along with the rest of the world today observed International Nurses Day under the theme “Nursing: A voice to lead- achieving the sustainable development goals.” In the state capital Kohima, the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) Local Branch Kohima celebrated the day in a befitting manner at DBT Conference Hall. Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, Dr. Neikhrielie Khiamia-o, managing director Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) complimented the nurses for their tireless effort and sacrifices towards the set up of NHAK.
He said because of their contributions, NHAK has gained recognition and it is a reality that this hospital has become the referral centre for the entire state. “I want my nurses to be punctual, truthful, hardworking, clean, well dressed, well behaved and above all I want my nurses to be love and caring,” he said.
Dr. Khiamia-o expects that the nurses should be polite, gentle and display well manner to any patient coming to this hospitals for treatment. Recalling the contribution of Florence Nightingale, Dr. Khiamia-o expects each and every one of the nurses to be model nurse like Nightingale for poor patients coming to this hospital. Earlier, L. Watimongla, principal School of Nursing, NHAK made introduction to the theme of this year’s nurses day.
The function was chaired by Visasieii Guozi, nursing tutor, School of Nursing NHAK while lamp lighting was led by Nzhiile Semy, nursing superintendent, NHAK. NHAK chaplain Vikepu Tepa invoked God’s blessing while vote of thanks was proposed by Rita Angami, president TNAI, Local Branch Kohima.
