Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2026 postponed

Dimapur, March 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) has postponed the Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2026, which were earlier scheduled to be held from April 7 to 18.

In a notification issued on March 12, NOA Assistant Secretary General Neivikuolie Khatsu informed that the Games have been postponed until further notice following a review of the schedule and consultations with affiliated sports associations and stakeholders.

The Games were earlier announced to be organised across Kohima, Chümoukedima and Dimapur.

According to the notification, the decision was taken to ensure wider participation and smooth conduct of the Games. It stated that a significant number of participating athletes are students and the earlier dates coincided with examinations and academic commitments in various educational institutions.

The NOA also noted that the proposed dates overlapped with certain pre-scheduled sporting activities and competition calendars of various state sports associations and national sports federations, which could affect the availability and participation of athletes, technical officials and teams.

The postponement will also provide districts, associations and athletes additional time for preparation and coordination, supporting broader participation and maintaining a high standard of competition, the notification stated.

The revised dates for the Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2026 will be notified after completing the necessary coordination with stakeholders.
