Nagaland: Pharmacists asked to work with code of ethics

KOHIMA, MAY 19 (MExN): The Nagaland State Pharmacy Council (NSPC) has appealed to all registered pharmacists not to step back or hesitate from duty on the ground of the pandemic as a lot of fear is revolving around it. 

“Let us recall the Pharmaceutical Code of Ethics. Professional etiquette and Pharmacists Oath laid down in the Pharmacy Practice Regulation 2015,” stated a press release from the NSPC.

It appreciated the pharmacists for doing a commendable job during the pandemic and appealed to all registered pharmacists and regulators to be on firm footing during the pandemic crisis. “The pharmacists should stand with the government, civil societies etc and play a role model as healthcare professionals with the best of its technical knowledge to save the society,” it stated. It further said that “this is the best time where pharmacists can contribute to the society on a larger scale for human kind.” 

The NSPC meanwhile cautioned its registered members, especially community pharmacists, from any illegal practices in rendering service and duties including hoarding of medical equipments and supplies, charging of exorbitant rates on medical items and drugs, illegal practices such as black marketing etc. 

It added that contravening the aforesaid rules would be liable for disciplinary punishment as per the provision of the rules and regulations of the Pharmacy Profession under appropriate sections and acts of the law.
