Kohima, November 2 (MExN): The Nagaland Police today appealed the All Commercial Vehicle Owners Association (ACVOA) to withdraw the proposed "chakka bandh," scheduled to commence on November 3.
The ACVOA called the bandh demanding payment for services provided by their vehicles during the Nagaland Assembly election held in February this year. In an appeal posted on its social media accounts, the Nagaland Police informed that the State Government has approved expenditure sanctions to settle all outstanding dues incurred for hiring private vehicles during the assembly elections.
While every effort will be made to disburse payments immediately, the actual disbursement of dues might take a few days due to the administrative process involved, it highlighted. Hence, the Police Department appealed to all Transport Associations in various districts to call off and withdraw the proposed bandh. On Wednesday, the ACVOA announced their decision to proceed with the planned "chakka bandh" starting on November 3, 2023, citing the State Government’s failure to fulfill its assurance of clearing the dues by October 31.
