The second consignment of Covishield vaccine for Nagaland was received at Dimapur Airport on January 20.

State Immunization Officer (SIO) Dr Ritu Thurr informed The Morung Express that 23,000 doses of the vaccine were received on Wednesday.

Earlier, the first consignment of 26,500 doses of Covishield vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India reached Dimapur airport on January 14.

Dimapur Airport Director Mughavi Zhimo, confirmed that 2 packages containing the Covishield vaccine arrived at Dimapur Airport today.  The vaccine was reportedly brought in by an Alliance Air aircraft from Kolkata. According to official sources, Medical and health department officials along with Dimapur Airport Director and CISF witnessed the arrival.

Dr Thurr further informed that the second consignment of COVID 19 vaccine released from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) reached the state vaccine store, under Police escort.

Though the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare has directed districts to conduct COVID-19 vaccination days on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, it has given permission to Kohima district to hold session sites at Botsa PHC, Viswema CHC, Kemipfuphe PHC, Kezocha PHC, Kohima Village PHC,Zakhama PHC, Zakhama army hospital and Mon district at Aboi CHC and Thornching PHC, he added.

According to the update, all vaccination sites are entered in COWIN portal and all beneficiaries are verified with photo identity card before receiving the vaccine. Healthcare workers who have been vaccinated will receive the subsequent second dose after 28 days and COVID-19 appropriate behaviors will be strictly maintained even after the vaccination, Dr Thurr added.
