Nagaland records 309 new COVID cases

Highest single day spike in cases, 1 death reported, 112 recover

DIMAPUR, MAY 7 (MExN): Nagaland reported the highest single day spike in COVID-19 infections as the State recorded 309 cases on May 7.

The new cases include 200 from Dimapur, 63 from Kohima, -32 from Mon, 9 from Mokokchung, 3 from Phek and 2 from Zunheboto.
The Health Department’s bulletin informed that of the new cases, 229 are traced contacts, 64 are from the armed forces, 14 are returnees/travelers and 2 are frontline workers.

Meanwhile, a total of new 112 patients have recovered from the infection. The new recoveries include 102 from Dimapur, 9 from Kohima and 1 from Peren.

One more death due to COVID-19 was also reported on the day taking the death toll to 112.

The total caseload of the State now stands at 15,580. Meanwhile, 12,540 people have recovered from the infection and there are now 2,433 active cases.

Of the active cases, 2,179 are asymptomatic, 155 have mild symptoms, 28 have moderate symptoms requiring oxygen and 55 have severe symptoms requiring oxygen. Meanwhile 16 people are in ICU with 3 of them on ventilator.
