Nagaland: Recoveries surpass new COVID cases

Dimapur, May 31 (MExN):  Nagaland on Monday reported 12 more COVID-19 fatalities and 117 new COVID-19 cases, taking the death toll in the state to 363 and the cumulative caseload to 21,680. 

Of the 117 new cases, 47 were reported from Kohima, 33 from Dimapur, 9 from Mokokchung, 7 each from Wokha and Zunheboto, 6 from Mon, 5 from Kiphire, and 1 each from Longleng, Phek and Tuensang. 

According to the health department’s daily bulletin, the new cases were detected from 689 samples, with a positivity rate of 16.98 percent. The bulletin also reported one more death that was categorized as ‘not COVID related.’

On the other hand, the state reported 215 cases of recoveries, of which Dimapur accounted for 128 cases, Kohima- 36, Zunheboto- 12, Longleng- 11, Phek- 11, Mon- 9, Kiphire-3, Mokokchung- 3, and Peren- 2. The total number of active cases now stands at 4,934 and total recoveries at 15,738.

As per severity of cases, 4,516 active cases were said to be asymptomatic, 235 mild symptomatic, 88 were moderate on oxygen, 58 severe on oxygen, 29 in ICU without ventilator and 8 were in ICU on ventilators.
