Nagaland reports 57 new COVID-19 cases

Dimapur, June 20 (MExN): Nagaland reported one COVID death in Tuensang district and 57 new cases on Sunday, as per the latest updates from the health department. A total of 143 patients also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the number of active cases to 1,890.

The daily bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme indicated that Kohima recorded 23 fresh cases, Mokokchung 10, Phek 8, Longleng 6, Wokha 4, Peren 3, while Mon, Tuensang and Zunheboto reported 1 new case each. The new cases were detected from 834 samples that were tested, returning a daily positivity rate of 6.83 percent.

It also said 48 people recovered in Mokokchung, 40 each in Dimapur and Kohima, 6 in Mon, 5 in Phek, 3 in Wokha and 1 in Tuensang. 

With this, the cumulative tally of cases in the state is now at 24,248 out of which 1,890 are active cases, and 21,201 are recovered cases. The official COVID death toll is now at 455, excluding 14 other deaths that were categorised as ‘not COVID related’ in the bulletin. A total of 688 cases have migrated to other states.

As per severity of symptoms, a total of 1,619 cases are said to asymptomatic, 191 are mild symptomatic, 45 are moderate on oxygen, 19 are sever on oxygen, 12 are in ICU without ventilator while 4 are on ventilator, as per the bulletin.
