Nagaland students to compete in national quiz contest

Kohima, January 11 (MExN): The two students of the State winning team will represent Nagaland in the semi finals and finals of the Election Commission of India organised first ever National Elections Quiz scheduled for January 14 to 15 in New Delhi, informed Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland. The two are Merio N Ngullie (Class 12) and Kekhriese Yhoshu (Class 11) of Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School Kohima.  

All the 34 states/UTs are competing in the quiz competition, the CEO, Abhijit Sinha (IAS) said in a press release.

  It was informed that intra school quiz competition was held across the state in November 2017. Winners of the intra school contest competed in the district round during first week of December 2017 and the winners of the district round then competed in the State round on December 15, 2017.  

The Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland has appointed Bachu Yhoshu, Assistant Professor, Sao Chang Government College, Tuensang, as the Liaison Officer of the competitors. The team left Kohima for Delhi on January 11.  

The semi finals and finals of the quiz contest will be held in the Rajya Sabha TV Studio and its coverage will be telecast across the country later, the release informed.  

As and when the telecast schedule is given by the ECI, the CEO said, it will be shared with both electronic and print media for publicity so that the citizens will be able to watch the national event in Nagaland.
