Nagaland: Students show up with birds, tortoise, guinea pig etc for Pets’ Day Out

‘Pets’ Day Out’ was organised by Saint John’s School, Diphupar ‘B’ on March 4. The students showed for the event with a variety of pets including dogs, cats, birds, tortoise, guinea pig and rabbits.

Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): The first ‘Pets’ Day Out’ was organised by Saint John’s School, Diphupar ‘B’ in the school premises on March 4. The students showed for the event with a variety of pets including dogs, cats, birds, tortoise, guinea pig and rabbits, the school stated in a press release. All students from Grade 3-10 attended the Pets’ Day Out event. 

The occasion was graced by Dr Bocto Sumi VAS, Veterinary Hospital Burma Camp as special guest and Rev Father Paul Maippan SDB, Principal and Director of Training Institute Don Bosco, Dimapur as the guest of honour. Other guests were Imlisen, founder of Noah’s Ark and Junior Veterinary Doctors, Dr Tshokedu Keyho and Dr Khrusato Keyho. 

Delivering the welcome note, Johnny Abraham, Principal, Saint John’s School stated that the idea behind the programme is for inculcating the “value of sympathy, empathy and unconditional love in the minds of their students towards all beings.”

Dr Bocto Sumi in his speech stressed on the importance of giving love and care to animals as we do to our families and friends. He told the students not to buy or purchase any animals if we are not ready to look after it properly.

Rev Father Paul Maippan encouraged the audience not to end the love for the pets but to love the pets to make a better place for them to live. Dr Khrusato said that pets can help people when fighting depression and also the best companion for introvert people. 

The event ended with a show where styled animals walked the ramp. Shiru (dog) and Hae-wo (cat) were declared winners of the ramp walk.
