Dimapur, September 24 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner Dimapur on September 24 informed that “total restriction of all movement on NH-29 from Chathe River Bridge (Patkai Bridge) to Kukidolong” will be imposed on September 26 and 27 to allow restoration works on the highway.

“In the interest of public safety there will be total restriction of all movement from Chate River Bridge (Patkai Bridge) to Kukidolong from 07:00 AM on 26th September, 2020 (Saturday) to 27th September, 2020 (Sunday), 11:00 PM  for restoration works,” stated a  circular from the DC Office.

The restriction is necessitated as precautionary measure to prevent any injury, loss of life and damage to property, it said.

The circular further informed that light vehicles travelling between Dimapur and Kohima can go through the alternative route via 7th Mile-New DC Office-Shokhuvi-Razaphe-Mhaikam-Pimla-Mhainamtsi- Jharnapani./Medziphema and vice versa.

“All concerned may take note the same for necessary action,” added the circular signed by DC Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan.

Currently in the midst of a width expansion project, rockslide has been a recurring feature at aforesaid stretch and this in the second time this month such restriction is being imposed.

The district administration on September 20 imposed similar restriction from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm to allow complete restoration works following avalanche of rocks that hit the highway at an unstable stretch at around 7:00 AM on September 19.
