Kohima, September 2 (MExN): A delegation of 8 representatives from Nagaland’s tour operators, home stay owners, and guides recently returned from a six-day exposure trip to Arunachal Pradesh from August 24 to 29 as part of the regional initiative ‘Kiyak Laam Kraam: Our Journey –Tourism and Culture Experience Tour’.
The collaborative program brought together roughly 100 tourism stakeholders from across all eight northeastern states to tour 11 distinct destinations, exchange best practices in hospitality, and experience community-based tourism models firsthand.
A defining highlight of the valedictory ceremony held at the State Banquet Hall in Itanagar was the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Arunachal Pradesh Industries Department and the North East India Tourism Confederation (NEITC), of which regional stakeholders are a part. This landmark agreement establishes a framework for deeper cooperation between regional governments and private tourism operators.
Addressing the delegates, Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona hailed the initiative as a gateway for intra-regional connection.
"Your strength is identifying your weaknesses, and growing from it," Minister Sona stated, emphasizing that tourism expansion must balance economic growth with environmental preservation.
He further noted that synchronized interstate collaboration will dismantle regional misconceptions and project the Northeast’s cultural wealth onto a broader audience.
Nagaland’s participants Neithonuo Yiese (Ara Travels), Khrieketouno Zhasa (Explore Nagaland) Thejakielie Miasalhou (Tati Homestay), Mankhat N Konyak (Sheanghah Travels), Marmi Difoe (Marmi Homestay), Senele Magh (Abode Tours & Travels) and Vivotso Zhasa (Greenwood Villa Homestay) have travelled to the districts of Ziro, Namsai, Pasighat and Shergaon.

Supported by the Centre’s RAMP initiative and curated by Rajiv Gandhi University in partnership with state agencies, the program aims to spark sustained intra- regional travel where northeastern states actively visit and learn from one another.
