Nagaland University observes 24th foundation day

 Lumami, September 6 (DIPR): Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, PB Acharya graced the 24th foundation day of the establishment of Nagaland University at Lumami Headquarters on September 6.  

The Governor who is also the Chief Rector of Nagaland University called upon the gathering to introspect and retrospect how far the University has reached stating that the University was conceived and established with vision by leaders for brighter and greater future. He asked whether these visions are in the right track, if not, he gave the congregation a wake-up call to change the mindset and go for more research in order to develop and prosper in peace.  

Acharya also mentioned on the government's Look East Policy for more development of the North Eastern States of the country where Nagaland state is also one of the beneficiaries. Exhorting that the fruit of prosperity should reach everyone equally, the chief rector encouraged the students that knowledge once acquired should be passed on, he asked them to connect to the people as knowledge achievers should also be givers, he asked all the citizens to become nodal agent for change and also be the change.  

Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Prof. Pardeshi Lal, short speeches were also delivered from Nagaland University Teacher's Association (NUTA), Nagaland University Non-Teaching Association and Post Graduate Students Union (PGSU (L)). Thought of Concern was shared by former Deputy Chief Minister, IK Sema who also represented the land owners from Lumami village. Special number was presented by students from Department of Economics while vote of thanks was proposed by Registrar, Nagaland University.  

On September 5, in honour of the Governor, a civic reception was organized by Lumami village- the land donor for the establishment of the University. The Governor in his speech recalled and acknowledged Lumami village for their great donations of land free of cost for the establishment of the University which he assured the people will always remain grateful in the history of NU. Acharya also gave a clarion call that India being a democratic country, it has the potential of becoming great and could compete with advance nations in all field. And to achieve this goal, Human Resources Development is one of the key factor, he said.  

Later in the evening an entertainment programme was also held at IK hall organized and presented by students from the University.
