Power demand in Nagaland has crossed the 200 MW mark, reportedly an all-time high for the state. As per the Department of Power Nagaland’s (DoPN) ‘Power Supply Status’ posted at 5:00 pm, on September 21, the state’s energy demand was tipped at 211 MW, a figure well above the approximated present peak demand of 180-200 MW.
The quantum of actual power availability, however, was hovering at around 69 percent of the demand. The allocation from the regional load dispatch centre, or from the grid, was 129.1 MW, while the Likimro Hydro Electric Project was meeting 16 MW of the demand, totaling to 145.1 MW.
As opposed to the available quantum at the said time, the actual total energy drawal was 153.5 MW, implying the state was overdrawing from the grid.
