Coffee Plantation

Kohima, August 28 (MExN): Minister for Planning & Co-ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Neiba Kronu along with advisors Namri Nchang and Dr. Longrineken visited Myanmar and Laos from August 19 and 27 last to study the method of Coffee plantation in Myanmar and in Laos for tourism and infrastructure promotion in the state.
In order to discourage the farmers of growing opium, the United Nations on Drugs & Crime (UNODC) encourages the people of Myanmar into coffee plantation for better earning and living in the Shan mountain region which was first planted in 2014.
Today particularly in the Shan mountain region of Mandalay, people are progressing by leaps and bounds through the coffee cultivation, a release received here stated today.
“Therefore, in order to boost up the economy of the state particularly the farmers of the state, Kronu along with his team visited the Sithar coffee plantation area which is situated in the Shan mountain region of Mandalay Myanmar and had an interaction with Tin Tinwin the Executive Director Sithar coffee farm,” the relase stated adding that Kronu and his team requested Tin Tinwin ED to support for coffee seedling for the state of Nagaland as the topography and temperature is suitable to Nagaland like Shan region as he wanted to encourage the farmers in a large manner into coffee farming they believed that the state revenue will increase into many folds in next few years.
The minister and his team also visited Laos which is a land logged country to study how coffee plantation is all about and tourism and infrastructure is implemented in their country.
In Laos, Kronu and his team visited Luang Prabang a UNESCO town which is maintained by United Nation for Educational and Scientific Organization (UNESCO) under world heritage to study the country and town planning system.
