Due to incessant rains, portion of the National Highway connecting Phek, Kiphire, Meluri was completely cut off. On the night of July 24, the road between Mesulumi and Enhulumi (near Chizami under Phek District) along National Highway- 29 was completely washed off, also taking with itself the connection to Phek district headquarters, Kiphire District HQs and Meluri ADC HQs.
According to official sources, for emergency, a road diversion from Chizami to Pfutsero via Tsüpfume has been opened for light vehicles.
However, heavy vehicles are not advised to ply on this route.
Road blockages due to landslides along Pfutsero – Zuketsa road have also been reported and the same are likely to be cleared by July 26.
The road condition of Pfutsero to Phek via Sakraba is also not advisable to ply by.
Road blockage has also been reported in Kidima side of Kohima district.
