Dimapur, January 31 (MExN): A one-day National Seminar on the theme Sustainable Rural Development, Climate Change, and Food Security was organized by the Research and Development Cell (RDC) of Dimapur Government College (DGC), sponsored by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and supported by the IQAC, DGC. The hybrid seminar took place at the Seminar Hall of DGC, with 102 participants attending in person and 9 joining online.

The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. Yelhi Vero, Convenor of RDC and Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, DGC. Prof. Sanjay Sharma, Principal of DGC, delivered the welcome address. Sarat Kumar Behera, Assistant General Manager of NABARD Dimapur, presented the keynote address, highlighting NABARD’s operations across 28 Indian states. He focused on the bank’s engagement in rural development, climate change mitigation, food security, and support for start-ups and tribal development in Nagaland.

Dr. Bonti Gogoi, Agronomy Specialist from KVK Nagaon, Assam, introduced the seminar's theme with a talk on Conservation of Agriculture for Rural Development and Climate Change in the North East Region of India.
The seminar included two technical sessions. The first was chaired by Dr. Herali Achumi, Assistant Professor of Sociology, DGC. Dr. Rudra Narayan Bokakati, Scientist at the AICRP on Rapeseed and Mustard, AAU-Zonal Research Station, Shillongani, Assam Agricultural University, Nagaon, presented an online talk on Eco-Friendly Approaches to a Sustainable and Greener Future. A parallel offline session featured presentations from 14 research interns of DGC, mentored by their respective supervisors.

In the second technical session, chaired by Sedevino, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, DGC, Dr. N. Khumdemo Ezung, Chief Technical Officer at KVK Wokha, discussed Organic Farming for Sustainable Agricultural Development and Food Security.
The seminar concluded with a valedictory session chaired by Dr. Amongla N Jamir, Assistant Professor of Political Science, DGC. Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, Coordinator of IQAC and Assistant Professor in Economics, delivered the closing remarks. Certificates were distributed to participants, and the seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Imkongmenla Longkumer, Assistant Professor in Commerce and RDC member.
