Dimapur: Initiated by Youngs Club Dimapur (YCD), Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Dimapur today launched the National Youth Policy (NYP) 2014 & Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India (GOI) at Lornas School, Walford Dimapur. Secretary, Education & Statistics, Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) I. James Pame Zeliang was the special guest.
President, YCD Jenpu Rongmei in the keynote address said that with the progression of contemporaries, youths are going off track engaging in dishonest activities with a means for survival or easy living. However, with NYP youths will be empowered in all youth related programs enabling youths of the country to realize their dreams. Further he said that NYP is for the youths specifically so he called upon the youths ‘to move ahead and maintain one’s balance without looking back’.
Applauding the policy implement by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports GOI, James Pame appealed the youths to make use of this opportunity and apply for the scheme which will benefit every individual positively. Acknowledging youths to be ‘pillar of the nation’ he believed this policy to be basic for the growth of the youth and ask for changes in the society from youths making use of this available scheme which will empower youth of the country to achieve their full potential and through them enable India to find a rightful place.
Speaking on RGKA whose main objective is to promote sports as a way of life among the youth and increase access to sports facilities across the country by encouraging achievement of excellence in sports, he encouraged the students to grab the opportunity and excel in the field of sports which is the most respected field among all professions.
The NYP 2014 & RGKA organized by NYK Dimapur initiated by YCD was launched in the presence of Lornas School and Bethesda Higher Secondary School students, teachers, principal, Walford Gaon Bura’s (GB), Youth for change members, YCD and DNSU officials. Earlier the programme was chaired by James Tungoe, YCD member, invocation was pronounced by Pastor Calvary Baptist Church Neikhole Wetsah and vote of thanks was rendered by YCD member Azo Wetsah.
