NBCC call for peace and reconciliation

DIMAPUR, NOV 29 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has called upon all to strongly pray for peace from December 1 to January 1, 2006.  “It is impossible for human being to stop violence and bring peace. But all things are possible with God if we trust and turn to Him. Take a convenient time every day to pray specially for peace and tranquility in our land. Let every Christian everywhere pray for peace individually at least once in a day for one month. Along with daily personnel prayer two special prayers are added i.e., December 10 and January 1, 2007 for congregation’s prayer day,” stated Rev Zhabu Terhuja, General Secretary and Rev L Kari Longchar, Director of Peace Affairs in a press communiqué.

The NBCC also urged all to pray in a Church or any suitable place with fasting and further informed that December 10 to be a day of ‘Closet Prayer’ for the healing and reconciliation of the Naga people. “Let us welcome the New Year on our knees before God that 2007 be a blessed ‘Year of Peace’ for the Nagas. By the allegation and counter allegation and the armed confrontation the national groups are simply distancing themselves from the public. Tribalism elements, interest, agenda and prejudices are some of the causes of Nagas conflict,” the NBCC stated.

All national workers have been asked to completely ceased hostility and armed confrontation with effect from December 1, 2006 and pray for divine forgiveness and restoration of mutual trust and respect with one another. The NBCC also called upon every Naga tribe to appoint a responsible committee to examine themselves and work for healing and reconciliation at the tribal level. Furthermore, it appealed to all Church bodies, tribal hohos, national groups and every Christian to actively participate in its quest for divine forgiveness, healing and reconciliation of the Naga people and ultimate peace.
