NBCC calls for fasting, prayer & intercession on March 11

Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has called on all churches to observe a day of fasting, prayer, and intercession on March 11 from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. In a press release issued by its General Secretary Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, it urged the faithful to reflect on the current state of affairs and the need to seek divine intervention.

In the statement, the NBCC expressed concern that the prevailing situation in the state is distressing, marked by “brokenness, disunity, falsehood, malice, and deceitfulness.” The Council maintained that God is far removed from people's lives, with His name being used only as a ‘proof text.’ Such a situation must be hurting God, it added.

In this connection, the NBCC called on all churches to spend time in confession, repentance, and intercession for the people of Nagaland. Urging the faithful to return to God and live a life that honors Him, it  acknowledged that as a Christian majority state, Nagaland should be doing better in every aspect of life.

Accordingly, it proposed 12 prayer points for the day, beginning with confession and repentance, followed by prayers for church leaders, government officials, law enforcement agencies, tribal leaders, children, youth, parents, farmers, and the Naga political situation. The NBCC has also called on the faithful to pray for spiritual awakening, seeking God's transformation and healing of the land.

The NBCC has also encouraged churches to develop more elaborate prayer points based on the local context and organize prayer time accordingly. It urged everyone to approach “God's throne of grace seeking His face in repentance and the healing of our land.”
