NBCC calls for prayers on Sept 6 ‘Peace Day’

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 4 (MExN): As the state observes September 6 as ‘Peace Day,’ the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has appeals to “believers” to say a prayer on the day and the Churches in Nagaland to intercede for peace this coming Sunday, September 8 for permanent peace in Nagaland. “Peace should not be made only as a day to be observed, it has to be lived. This is the hard reality the Nagas in general are facing,” a press release from the NBCC General Secretary, Dr Zelhou Keyho stated. For true peace to be established, the NBCC stated that “verbal war must cease and mutual understanding must prevail.” It called for efforts to “respect each other even with those whom we chose to disagree if it would serve the greater purpose of achieving peace.” It meanwhile also called for unity, mutual respect and tolerance, as the Naga future sits on a threshold of what may happen next.
