Kohima, January 31 (MExN): The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) held a farewell for its outgoing Chairperson, Asano Sekhose, at the NBSE Conference Hall in Kohima on January 31.
The event was attended by officials from various educational sectors, with MLA and Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, leading the tributes. Dr. Yhome praised Asano Sekhose for her in-depth knowledge and skillful leadership, which he said had helped shape NBSE into a well-organized board. He noted that under her guidance, the board had placed Nagaland at the forefront of the education system. Dr. Yhome also acknowledged Sekhose's dedication in nurturing thousands of students' futures and building trust and friendships in the education community both nationally and internationally. He expressed hope that her legacy would continue through her successors.
Commissioner & Secretary for School Education & SCERT, Kevileno Angami, also commended Sekhose for her tireless service. She remarked that Asano’s contributions had put Nagaland ahead of many other states in the education sector. Angami specifically highlighted the significant reforms implemented under Asano’s leadership, which had greatly shaped the landscape of the NBSE. She wished the retiring Chairperson success in her future endeavors.
Reflecting on her journey, Asano Sekhose, who served in NBSE since February 1, 1990, expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve. She thanked God for good health and guidance throughout her career and referred to the NBSE office as her “second home.” She thanked her colleagues and staff for their unwavering support and cooperation, as well as the departments of School Education and SCERT for their continued assistance. She also expressed her appreciation for the support of the Governing Board members and the cooperation of registered schools.
Secretary of NBSE, Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, expressed heartfelt thanks on behalf of the officers and staff, calling Asano a “guiding star” for both her professional and personal mentorship. He praised her for bringing the board to new heights and setting an example for future generations of educators.
The programme, which was chaired by Joint Secretary of NBSE, Ekyimo Shitirie, also featured an invocation by Kekhrielhoutuo Nakhro, Chief Coordinator (IT) of NBSE, and a benediction by Dziesevolie Tsurho, Academic Officer of NBSE. Officers and staff from the departments of School Education, Higher Education, and SCERT were present to celebrate Asano Sekhose’s contributions to the state's education system.
