Kohima, October 3 (MExN): Cadets of 1 Nagaland Girls Battalion NCC, Kohima under the aegis of Group HQ NCC, Kohima participated in the nationwide ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ campaign from September 15 to October 2 with an aim to intensify awareness on cleanliness and create a clean environment across the country.
A press release informed that the campaign culminated on October 2 with prize distribution ceremony for essay writing and filmmaking contest on Swachh Bharat. NCC cadets from St Joseph’s College, Jakhama, Little Flower HSS, Kohima, and St Mary Cathedral HSS, Lerie secured first, second and three positions respectively.
The entire exercise motivated the NCC cadets to raise awareness amongst the general population and also carry out cleanliness drives in the neighbourhood, the release added.
SHS exercise launched across the nation encompassed cleanliness drives, mass awareness rallies, speeches, poster making, seminars, theme based skits and cleaning of statues, wherein around 4000 NCC girl cadets of the unit participated.
Col Rajeev Kumar, Commanding Officer of 1 Nagaland Girls Bn NCC informed that around 70 institutes – schools and colleges – in all 11 districts of Nagaland affiliated to the unit participated in the campaign.
