Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): Around 400 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets were today trained by the Fire Brigade, Dimapur on fire fighting drills during the ongoing Annual Training Camp of 24 Nagaland (Independent) Company NCC under the aegis of NCC Group HQ, Kohima at Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School, Dimapur Lt Col Vivek Shukla, Camp Commandant, Annual Training Camp in a press release informed that the cadets were acquainted with causes of fire and its prevention. The cadets were also given hands on experience on handling firefighting equipment brought by the Fire Brigade.
The Fire Brigade personnel demonstrated on various drills during the awareness session. “The cadets were amused to see the equipment in action and volunteered in large numbers to handle all by themselves,” the release stated. The demonstration by Fire Brigade was the culmination of training on Disaster Management which was going on for last two days.
The Camp Commandant mentioned that the NCC cadets attending the camp have been adequately empowered to tackle situations of disaster in terms of earthquake, fire, and floods. The NCC cadets will be able to assist the community as the first responders and will be able to assist the civil administration in times of crisis, he stated.
